Now I am in trouble....
Well, I've got a lot of soul searching to do. I own a 2014 C7 w/ Z51 package and 7M.Only 8000 miles and the car will be 2 in October. Love the car, and truth be told it's way more performance than I'll ever need. But, at the golf club this weekend, and a guy pulls up in a new VY Z06. That car looks absolutely incredible. I can't stop thinking about it. The wide body, bigger tires, it looks positively sinister. Now I want one, as much as I love my car. Makes no rational sense.

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. I keep telling myself the same, I don't need more but want it, not rational at all.

It's the VY!

Go for the Z06 if you feel strong about it, life is too short to have regrets for not doing something you really wanted to do.

I can also attest the Z06 in VY is an amazing color that makes this car look so awesome, so aggressive.
It was the best looking Corvette I have seen except the Z06 in Mike Furman's recent post which was a Z06 Vert in CR w/ Z06 Chrome wheels.

Most "toys" do not make any rational sense but they sure make life a lot more enjoyable. Get that Z and put that smile on your face.

If money is not an issue then go for it. You might consider keeping it and add another super car to your stable. Actually if money were not an issue for me I would keep my base C7 (which I dearly love) and add a Maserati Gran Turismo to my stable. The styling of that car is beautiful and oh that Ferrari V8!!

There is always something better out there. If you get the Z06 some guy will drive by in an Aston Martin..... But if it will make you happy and you can afford it-go for it.

Now you know why the C6 GS killed the sales of the base C6. Plenty of people liked the aggressive looks of the C6 Z06 but didn't want the higher performance capabilities of the Z06(or the 50% higher cost).
I'm betting that GM will come out with a wide body C7, but will not have the additional performance capabilities of the C7 Z06(and without the higher cost of the Z06), just like they did with the C6. It took five years for the C6 GS to be released, so that's probably about when GM will do a C7 widebody(non Z06).

There will always be cars that you want more than the one you have. Kind of like being jealous of someone that's younger or more attractive. Of course you can buy another car. I better stop this conversation before I start looking at Z06s.

IF you got the money, go for it. Do what makes you happy.
However, keep in mind if you do upgrade, and you fiind yourself at another golf outing and by happen stance, someone else rolls in with the same Z06, trim, color etc....what are you going to do then?
I want to assume sometimes we desire based on the need of exclusivity, and if that is truly the case, I would recommend exploring the after market world...see what you can do to your current C7 to help provide that exclusivity feel, where your car becomes a reflection of you.
I'm very much in the motorcycle industry, have a custom built Harley. Same concept, I use to trade in my old bikes every 2 years for the latest and greatest...HAD TO HAVE It..until I discovered customization, and building a machine that reflected your character and taste...unique and exclusive...makes you less likely to want the latest and greatest..but really appreciate the machine you have, one that you customized, and built to your liking.
Your C7 is a great base to work with ..but hey...if you want that Z06 and its not going to set you back financially...well hell, go get it...you live once

Have had this conversation with several Corvette friends. We all conclude that for the extra (approx.) 25K, it really isn't worth it. We can find maybe 10K more but no where near 25K. BUT that being said, if you have the $$ and it has nothing to do with wanting people to think you have a big weiner...buy the car!

Agree with this thread...
The rear fender flares fill out the
lone weak area of the design.
Enough to transform the impression
of the car.
There's no mistaking the "all business" look of the Z06.

Well .. I know all about wanting things. Sometimes you get an idea in your head, and the idea takes on a life of its own.
Obviously, it's your choice. Who wouldn't want a new Z?
But ... do you drive your 'ordinary' C7 at the limits of its performance, and find it lacking? If not, what are you going to do with the extra 200hp? If that's the case, the 'wanting' has taken on a life of its own.
If the money is insignificant, go for it. If not, think hard.

<p>This is an interesting thread.</p><p> </p><p>All of my car buddies said, "See Steven, we told you not to buy the first year of a new generation. You could have had a ZO6/ZO7"</p><p> </p><p>To be honest with you, I've spent almost 2 years modifying my car to really make it my own. I've very happy with it! 460 horsepower is more ponies than I've ever had anyway.</p><p> </p><p>The ZO6's are really a track car. If you have the monetary means with which to do it, make the change. You can always sell your car. But I'm VERY happy with what I have now. I don't need a ZO6....I'd always take more horsepower, but I know I don't use the 460 horsepower I already have. You have to be happy with what you've got. If you're not happy, make the switch!</p>
