I travel to Europe periodically for business. Was out to an early dinner with some clients in Amsterdam (12 of us at a quiet dinner table) when the subject of 'how long have you been married' came up.
When they found out how long I've been married one of the women asked "how have you managed that when you travel so much!?" I told them we always do little things to let the other know we're thinking of them. They asked for an example. So I said, "I can make the horn honk on my car from here and she'll call me within 30 seconds". They wanted to know how that worked and asked me to prove it. (I've done this from Amsterdam, London, Zurich, Melbourne, and Singapore. Seems like it'll work from anywhere).
There's an 8 hour time difference, so I did a locate on her vehicle ('15 Yukon Denali) to make sure she was home. She was. My C7 stays parked on a lift in our garage, so I sent the signal to honk the horn on my C7 and handed the phone to one of my Amsterdam friends and said "you answer it and have some fun".
So, within a minute she calls. He hits the button and puts it on speaker phone. She had no idea there were others around, or that she was on speaker. She says "I hope you're not horny". Everyone is silent for a brief moment and then bust up laughing. She hears them all in the background. I figure I'm a dead man. She laughs it off. Still does. I sure married the right person. And bought the right car!!
Try it. Lots of fun!
PS: my next experiment will be on a plane with Wi-Fi. I'll hook my phone up to it and see if it works from the air.
PS PS: This episode also brought up a long discussion about the new C7s. They wanted to see pictures, asked me a lot of questions. They were all pretty aware of the C7s as the EU press loves them. Made for great dinner conversations.

Maybe not. After 41 years (we got married very young), we know how we'll both react. And she dishes it too. She comes with me on a couple of trips per year. Out to dinner one night with one of my automotive clients the woman seated next to her asks "how do you handle it with Paul traveling so much". No hesitation at all in her answer: "Oh, that's what makes it work!!".
We have a lot of fun with cars too. Every fall we take a 2 week road trip where I plan really nice places to go and stay, and surprise her with - I just tell her how long we'll be gone, and what types of clothes she needs to take. We always laugh that if I do a good job she'll sign up for another year and get me off the month-to-month. We've done this for 7 years in a row, cars like Maserati, CTS-V, Range Rover Sport, etc. The first year we made certain we took advantage of all the technology available in the vehicle we took - music on ipods, loaded music on hard drive, satellite radio, etc. We didn't turn the audio on at all, and never do on the subsequent trips. Just windshield time with each other, enjoying conversation and the beauty of whatever areas we're in. This year we're going for the first time in a 2 seater - our '15 C7. I'm really looking forward to driving the C7 all over the NW for around 3000-3500 miles. She's not crazy about doing the trip in 'such a small, low car', but she knows I really want to so she's said she'll get used to it and enjoy. Life is good. So is the C7!

My wife and I have been married for 37 years. We love taking long road trips to interesting places, staying in B&B's and discovering parts of the USA we've never seen or visited.
What you said above strikes a chord. We almost never listen to the sound system. We prefer talking to each other and enjoying the companionship.

Cool way to use the car to start a conversation.
