Default Creaky top- fix is on the way.

I'm sure many others are experiencing the creaky top when it's hot out. I just picked my car up from the dealer after having some other services performed, with this being a complaint. The service advisor said a new titanium hardware kit was in the works from GM but he couldn't say if it would be a bulletin or a recall. Either way I'm on "the list" to receive this new hardware kit and hopefully it will eliminate the creaks.
I didn't pay over $70k so that I could remove body parts and lubricate them on a weekly basis. This doesn't qualify as general maintenance in my mind.

Wow! Sweet! If that is the case, shows that GM is listening.

Great cause ive done every combination know to man to fix this and nothing works. 70 this morning and roof silent. As soon as it heated up the crack pop creak starts. Lets pray for a fix as this car is too good to put up with this misfit noise.

Default Creaky top- fix is on the way.

The hardware was changed on current build 16's. The fix works. It latches tighter and doesn't make a peep.

I think it was integrated after the initial production changeover. Look at the strikers and see if it's a smoother shiny finish or a rough textured finish.

I'm guessing I know which one but take a look.

I guess I have been fortunate so far. My top is very quiet. I have had it off several times and driven in 100+ temps. Mine is a 2014 with 14,000 miles.

I'd rather have had a fixed roof anyhow.

Had my creaking roof fixed at the dealer in 12-15 and my Invoice indicated the following: Service Bulletin #4277613 - They replaced parts with (1) 23374302 F-Striker, (1) 23374303 F-Striker and (2)23412818 F-Pin. Installed updated pins and pivots. My roof is quite most of the time now, unless I hit one of those highway reflectors and it makes a very high pitched creak and with the radio on, I usually don't hear it. The problem is 95% fixed.

talked to dealer today, says bulletin Bulletin #4277613 is for 14s + 15s, 16s require weather strip replacement, ordered, see how it goes.
thanks for your input.

Creaky top is still creaky after "the fix". they changed the weather stripping, not sure what that was supposed to do, told me to bring back on a sunny day. on smooth roads seems ok, bumpy roads it is noisey.

Try this:
  • Remove the roof panel.
  • Apply a good dose of silicone spray lubricant to the front and rear rubber weatherstripping on the underside of the roof panel.
  • Do the same with the rubber weatherstripping on the top of the windshield header and the top of the rear halo.
  • Allow the silicone spray to dry.
  • While the silicone lubricant is drying install heat-shrink rubber tubing on the four pins on the front and rear of the roof panel. Be sure to cut the tubing long enough so as to cover the entire surfaces of the pins. For best results use a heat gun to form the tubing around the pins.
  • Re-install the roof panel.

I had a creaky roof on my 2015 coupe. Performing the TSBs only made it worse. I did the above and my roof has been quiet for eight months.

A removable top makes the car! Don't want a car with a removable top? Buy something else....
