Default Hellcat Called Me Out At The Track

I went to the drag strip last night to do some testing since I recently installed ARH mid lengths and a CAI. I'm still racking up miles with the canned Diablo tune before I can have a custom one written, so I think there are still some gains to be had from tuning adjustments.

In the midst of my testing I come down the return road past a parked Hellcat Challenger that I've seen make a ton of passes over the last few weeks and I hear someone yell "can't beat it" as I go by. I wasn't really sure if he was talking to me or what, I paid little attention to it.

Then in the pits I had a few people come up and tell me how the Hellcat guy said he would "eat me up", I just laughed and said "with 250 more hp I should hope so". Then this guy asked if I would run the Hellcat and I said sure why not, I'm just here testing. He mentioned that the Hellcat owner said "as long as you're on motor he will run you".

A little later as I go to make my last pass of the night the Hellcat owner comes over and asks me some generic questions about my car, if I am using my nitrous tonight (I wasn't) what I have been running etc. And then says he wants to run, I said sure.

It was actually a great race, we left at the same time and he made just about the best pass he has ever made, luckily for me so did I

He came back to the pits after the race and was very cordial, he was actually a nice guy. I think the onlookers were doing more of the jabbering, but either way it felt good to take down a car like that. Just goes to show you that the A8 and C7 platform overall is a well matched combination, I pulled a 1.78 60' on that pass on stock 20" runflats.

Wow great job, I'm glad you pulled through. Do you think the outcome would've been different if you not had the CAI headers and canned tune?

There were a few salty people over that LOL. My advice? Don't call people out if you don't have them covered.

But was HE stock?

All the bozos soiling themselves over these cars don't realize that they're pulling 1000+ pounds more than we are. That's like a half-dozen fat gals jumped in before the race ever started.

Great run!

Nice kill but I hate to say it but he can't drive. Sounds like he spun for the first 100 feet. Still a very nice kill to chalk up though!!

He ran an 11.7 on stock tires on a warm night, that's actually not bad for a stick shift one. Sure some people do better but I wouldn't say he can't drive.

He burned his tires up at the line. Poor lad had !traction. His launch was way too heavy and he really should consider some stickier meats on the rims.

Your A8 just hooked down the track and left him burning up tires and losing time shifting. Giggle...
