Default Has anyone installed an Optima gel cell battery in a C7

Just wondering if anyone has replaced their standard Delco battery with an optima red or yellow top gel battery in their 2015 Stingray? If so, what battery number do I need to order?
Thanks

Not sure why you want to do this.

Did a quick search of their site and did not find a gel packed battery. The glass matt is like a sponge between the spiral plates to hold battery acid. So I don't think that is what you want. You want a battery with very high reserve capacity RC for short. The corvette Mechanic said I think 125 minutes min.

I installed one in my 01, and it lasted 11 years without any issues, so thought I might do the same for my 15

Have no idea why the OP would want to do this. They came as OEM on the Ford GTs and caused no end of problems. Once production moved to mexico they were cost engineerred to death. New ones rarely last more than a year.

Odyssey makes a great AGM battery using flat mats for much better reserve capacity but again, with the battery in the rear in a plastic bucket, not really sure why you would want to change. Good replacement for a failing OEM battery.

Stay away from the Optimas now. Junk.

The AC Delco Professional grade batteries still have a 42 month free replacement warranty... That's about as good as it gets.

After buying optimas for years, i found in the last four years or so, that since they move the manufacturing facility, it's not the same battery is used to be. It can suffer from premature failure suddenly. . I would not buy an Optima. Just Google search "optima battery problems" and you'll see what I mean. I would buy an Odyssey AGM which is the gold standard in batteries at this point. A PC 1500 might fit… And optimas are not GEL batts, they are absorbed glass mat batteries (AGM).

Sometimes the stock battery lasts as long as I keep the car, sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't, I replace it with the same AC Delco battery it came with. The second battery will certainly last as long as I keep the car. I find no reason to obsess about it.

Not a good idea for several reasons including their cost and poor consumer reviews.

Old ones like I had in my hot rod truck were almost indestructable. But now, Mexican made junk.

I put a Odyssey in my 2016 Z,Delco battery just seemed so weak, like the Odyssey, starts way faster, I wanted a battery that keep full power on the C7 electronics hog.

As a long time user Of Optima Yellow tops I believe it will no longer fit in the space in the trunk so Delco was what I purchased as well AND a pain in the buttocks to replace a battery in a C7

Hard to find anything made by Optima that will fit the stock battery compartment. The Odyssey is popular. However, on another battery thread, they pointed out that Autozone and Advnace Auto now stock the AMG that is an exact fit replacement that has better CCA than Odyssey and is cheaper. I got the one from Advance Auto, and the only differences were that the CCA was higher and it had two carring handles built in so you don't need a special tool to get that new one out of the compartment. However, you need that tool to get the original Delco out since it has no handles.
