I bought my new rally red '66 coupe fresh out of medical school at Barford Chevrolet in Clayton, MO and it has been a lifelong love affair of Corvettes ever since. That Corvette was 12 Corvettes ago.

Hubby had this when I met him. He sold it soon after we got married. Thirty years later I bought a used 2008 Corvette. After a year and a half I traded it for the 2014 Stingray pictured at left.

The 63 SWC came out in Sep 1962. Cuban Missile Crisis in Oct '62 had the potential to delay everything thereafter.
So after waiting patiently I managed to horse trade my 62 bubble top for a SWC less than a year after HS. Did the trade-in +cash right on the shoulder of a fairly new 495 Interstate. Seller came out of Va. to meet me on the Md. side. Took it for the test drive. Used all gears but I skipped 3rd for unk reason. After the deal was done I put it in 3rd and it had a bad synchronizer. Couldn't say too much cause seller was like 300 lbs. He complained in-kind that I gave him re-cap tires. (Which I smoked but didn't tell him).
To make things worse Uncle Johnson sent me a letter a few months later telling me i.s.m.w. I won't be needing that where I'm going....report for duty dah dah dah
I was hooked cause 30 days after my time was up I got another one. Then another before I tried out a 67 Shelby GT500 like my buddies. Many more Vettes would follow. Each had a story.
My last Vette was like my first vette. Owned it less than 6 months. It was my first new one. Rest were all used due to budget constraints.
Poor me! And no garage either for sooooo long. Parked my last SWC (1 of 4) in a tiny tiny shed with the back sticking out. I guess you called that garaged.

Great pics! Thanks for posting those. I don't have any pictures of the car that made me fall in love with Corvettes, but I can still see it in my memory.
My dentist when I was a kid had a red C3 that I used to run my hands down the sides of when I went in for my visits, and again when I left. (I was about 10 then). At the age of 17, I saw a yellow C3 convertible in a parking lot. I knew right then, Corvettes were for me.
I had a C6, loved it, but sold it. My dream garage is a new Z06 and a chrome bumper C3.

Mike, I just saw this thread for the first time tonight. After perusing it in its entirety, I'd say this thread has morphed into one of the best Corvette Forum topics I have seen. You are living the dream as a VETSELLR since the late 70's.
I'd like to say thank you to all of the gents in this thread who have posted pics of their C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, and now C7.
I just spec'd out my new Stingray my local dealer today. I was feeling giddy when I got home, then sat down tonight and saw this thread, admired everyones pictures and input, and it made me feel like a proud American once again. Thank you so much!
5 star thread!

Burning Brakes
Its a VERY long story, but through a crazy series of events,
I was driving a 3 year old split window coupe my senior year in high school! (1966)
Last month, almost 50 years later, I picked up #10...
At least no one can accuse me of a mid-life crisis - unless mine started when I was 18 years old!

Just back from war games in SE Asia. Summer of 1974 with me standing by my friends 65 Corvette. I was into 1957 Chevy Wagons at the time. I knew I had this picture somewhere and I finally found it.

Mike , This thread you started has got to be the best thread of all time. I have really enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the stories. I hope that these old cars are still around, picked up by car people who love cars as much as we did back then.
