Default Protecting the black wheels

My 2014 black wheels, despite constant cleaning, did not wear well and looked progressively worse as time went on. I just bought a '16 with black wheels and want to try to protect them with wax or something to try and prevent this from happening again. I realize it's the brake dust doing it but need to try and prevent it...

I've heard that there isn't much you can do other than get them powder coated when they turn worse.

I wipe ours down every other week with Chadwick's Triple Play... seems to keep them looking like new!

Sounds to good to be true.
Does it dull the finish at all on the glossy black wheels? How often do you have to re-apply it, if ever?

About 6 months later, still working:

However, long-term the carbotech brake pads are the ultimate answer for the z51 dust problem.

I simply use Meguiar's Spray Wax and a Microfiber cloth and they look great. Much more maintenance than a polished wheel for sure.

Do you use the spray wax to clean the wheel or do you clean the wheel first and then use the spray wax?

Recognizing the paint on the wheels is fragile, I apply a sealant (Rejex) every six months to reduce brake dust from adhering to the wheel and also take great care in cleaning them. I never wipe the wheels down with a duster or rag with or without using a detailer, but clean them only by hosing them down first, then gently washing them with a soft sponge using a mild car-wash detergent and water. I figure brake dust is probably abrasive and wiping with a rag will only scratch the surface as you wipe the dust off. So far the wheels look very good after seven months.

Exactly… brake dust is nasty...… It is corrosive, not healthy for you, and sticky… . And after a while it embeds in the paint easily and you can't clean it… pick a sealant so it can't attach itself…

I've had great luck with Armor All Wheel Protectant.
Once the wheels are clean I spray it on and let it dry,, (usually overnight)
And on the next washing the brake dust usually comes off with just hosing.
7000 miles and my wheels still look like new.

Also had good luck with Eagle one Keep Clean

Same here I do them every other time I take the car out about 5-10 minutes worth no problem.

Exactly. I'll do this after washing or if the car is clean, but wheels are dusted up I will wipe them down.

How does Armor All Wheel Protectant look on the black wheels? I've used this product on silver wheels before, and it works well, but it leaves a bit of a visible film. I figure this film can only look worse on black wheels. TIA
