C7 Corvette Grand Sport?
Just assuming lots of things here, based on GM's past actions:
1- Normally aspirated
2- Z06 Wide body with slight changes on front fenders
3- Based on the 2LT
4- Z06 size wheels but unit style more than likely chrome
5- Priced as a fully loaded 3LT
6- Z51 performance equipment except for wheels standard

Have never been a fan of the Grand Sport but that's because I've always been a Z06 owner. But hey a Corvette is a Corvette right?

Well, an acquaintance who is an exec in a very significant after market performance company told me that they are hearing two 2017 rumors at higher levels.
1. GS is a done deal.
2. M7 is gone in either 2017 or 2018.
Never liked the C6 GS cars for a variety of reasons, but a C7 GS might be quite a different machine.
But, I can't see the M7 disappearing until the C8 and or the Zora come along.
Even then, I think the Zora and the ZO6 would have to have a true dual clutch and the other cars might have the latest iteration of the A8 and maybe a DC option. Only then could GM maybe try to make the M7 go away.
Still, I would hate to see that day arrive. Market surveys may yet keep the M7 around for a little while longer.

There simply is not a need for a GS now:
1. Vette sales are still good overall - you may think they are falling reading here, but overall the days supply and sales velocity of the C7 is very good compared to other places they need to put money.
2. why add extra cost to the line with a new model? And adding models is expensive in things you don't think about: parts books, service tools, line changes, etc. . Adding a new model is only to expand the overall sales of the vehicle class, not cannibalize from other C7 models , which this will do.
3. the guys at GM are biz guys first, and enthusiasts second - or at least the people that would make such a decision. The biz argument wins right now.
IMO

The C6 GrandSport was by far the most popular model they sold, and the C7 GrandSport will be no different. If GM wants to crank up demand and continue adjusting MSRP & invoice pricing upwards they need to have something in place for 2017.

I read on another thread that they were closing the plant to outside parties (buyers that are watching their car get built and museum deliveries) for a few days in October, no clue if that is just rumor or if it is for a particular reason.

Drifting
I had a 13 GS and traded up to a 15 Z51 and Happy Happy Happy. Much more balanced driving.

I hope they make another GS at some point. I'm not really interested in owning the standard C7 body after seeing the wider verison, and the Z06 is just too track focused for me (owned a C6Z and other C3/C4/C5/C6 for many years). Until the next GS cycle starts, I'm most likely out of the market. Let's go GM!
