Would you mind taking a picture showing how you have this mounted inside the vehicle?
In reference to post #10 and #15 .... I thought it would be best to present the quality of my dash cam. I have downloaded via youtube a 3 minute video segment from the GS8000L Dash Cam. Once again, cost is under $23.00 on eBay. Great HD 1080P quality and audio. The audio on the video is direct within the cockpit/cabin of the C7 and my USB micro thumb drive connected inside the radio screen.
When the GS8000L dash cam first came to the market they were priced around $59.99. No need to spend hundreds of dollars on a GoPro or any other higher priced video recording device.
For under $23.00 I don't how you can beat this camera. I have 5 of them mounted in all of our vehicles.
Let me know your thoughts. I have my dash cam set for 3 minute loop recording using a 8GB micro sd chip.

I searched around a couple of years ago and after looking at tons of videos on Youtube and listening to endless stories I bought the G1W. Works great in all conditions and the license plates are easy to read. Got a 2nd one a few weeks ago for the new 2016 C7. This one is the G1W-H. It has the blackout front so it's not as noticeable in the car. It works great too. Around 40-50 dollars. I give it an A rating.

I was thinking about getting the innovv c3 since it has a remote lens. I'd like to fit it where the PDR camera would normally go. Or possibly buying the factory Pdr camera and wiring it into the recorder part of the innovv c3. Anyone tried something like this?

Here's the GS8000L mounted in my C7.
It is mounted very high at the top of the windshield and on the passenger side of the mirror. This leaves a clear view out the windshield for the driver. I could mount the camera lower to the bottom of the windshield but the FOV (field of view) would change.
My only wish is the GM would place a powered usb plug into the mirror to eliminate any cords. It would be great for radar detectors and dash cams hookups.

I have the Cobra Drive HD cam in my Vette. Tried numerous eBay/Amazon cams and didn't have want to spend $300 for the blackbox stuff. It has GPS and comes with a decent mount. Good night performance and image is clear. Only thing it doesn't have is wifi but I can live without it. Taps and runs right off the rear view mirror. It's $99 at Costco, and I can pick it up with my massive rolls of TP and chicken.

I have the GW1 camera in my C7 I ran the wire just tucking it into trim over the top of the windshield then down the post behind the rubber.
Then under the glove compartment to the center consol power port.
Whenever I start my car the camera is on when I shut down the camera shuts off.
Set the camera up, plug it in, then your finished if something happens you can pull the plug or stop the camera then take out the card.
I also keep an SD card adapter in my car so I can take the images off the card instantly.
I have my camera just to the right of the center of the car.

I’d like to add a dash cam but I don’t want something hanging down, stuck to the windshield and I especially don’t want a clunky wire permanently plugged into the accessory outlet. What's the point in finally getting a decent Corvette interior then cluttering it up with all that ticky-tacky stuff? That PDR compartment between the mirror and the windshield was designed to house a dash cam. Why not use it? It looks like power can be tapped off the mirror wiring harness. Here’s a previous discussion on using that power source for a radar detector.
Has anyone tried mounting a dash cam in the PDR compartment? It seems like the logical place unless you want to remove/install the SD card frequently. If that's the case, maybe the metal tabs that hold that cover in place could be replaced with Velcro - just a thought.

...this is my only complaint I have with my personal dash cams. I don't like the power cord hanging down in the middle. Otherwise it is a great accessory to have at a very low cost for a quality result. CF member "agapsdiver" looks much better and a cleaner mount.

I have the modular power wire and the GPS wire going up behind the "A"pillar molding and across the top under the molding. Can only see about 1 inch of wires coming out of the molding going into the camera.
The power cord to the radar detector to the right of the mirror goes the same route.

Hey thanks guys for the info. The problem I have is a tinted windshield so I'd have to mount it to the mirror if there is such a one. The idea is a great one especially down here in SW FL with so many nutty drivers.

I use a 8GB sd micro card in the dash cam. The 8Gb card will provide about 35 to 40 - 3 minute videos. So after 3 minutes, the dash cam starts a new recording, but not over the previous recording.
Using a larger card like a 16GB sd card, you could record up to 70 to 80 - 3 minute videos before the dash cam starts to record over the 1st video recorded.
Once the dash cam records the 40-3 (8GB card) minute videos, it will start to record over the 1st video then work its way to #40 and start all over.
I pulled the micro sd card out today to download the video presented on youtube so all CF members that have an interest in the dash cam thread could see the quality of the image and audio. Many CF members might not believe my comments about this GS8000L dash cam, so I thought best to download an actual loop from my personal camera in my C7. As you can see in the video the date is 8/22/2015, so the dash cam has not recorded over this 3 minute loop yet.
Today, I cleared the card via formatting the micro sd card which then erases all 3 minute recordings. If I would have gotten a ticket for the stop sign, I would have simply downloaded that event on my computer when I arrived home and saved it for a future court date with the officer to dispute the violation.
If you had an event like a collision or accident of any type, or recorded another incident not involving you, the 3 minute looping provides plenty of time for the user to download the incident on a personal computer, laptop etc.
Hope this explains the loop feature.

Great thread......now for my useless post. I forget the brand but it will come to me, for around $230 CDN a buddy of mine who does stereo installs also retails one that also comes with a rear mounted camera and motion sensor, great idea to have a rear and motion. If I remember the brand I will post it up or I will just call him on Monday.

I ran a hot wire up to and behind passenger kickpanel/under glove box from rear fuse block #37 for my curb alert. I just tapped in to
this wire (made a Y connection) and used that to also power the A118 camera and Valentine V1 radar detector. took the hot wire up the passenger A panel and across the top window molding to the camera. Whenever the car starts the camera starts recording.. turn off ignition and it saves last video and turns off.
