The Z06 should have kicked butt

However it did not finish..........bad Gas

Last time they gave the Z06 a bye with a retest. This time no retest and it looks like Motor Trend insinuated that GM is telling a big fat fib

I wonder what Tadge will say this time about the DNF.

Unfortunately the Z06 has been a dismal failure since day one, good thing the Stingray wasn't.

How unfortunate for the Corvette. We all knew the Z06 would place high and pull one of the fastest times. I was more into what laptime they were going to run rather than the placement honestly. Kudos to Merc for their efforts with the AMG GTS and more importantly to Mazda. Proving time and time again, even with less than 200HP, you can have a blast.

Can't deny I'd be bummed if I had a Z06 on the way instead of a Z51.

Hope they turn it around.

Total embarrassment for GM, there's no excuse for this failure.

If they had tested just a Z51 it probably would have placed right below the GT4.

Car and drivers long term test of a z51 stingray also had serious problems to the point that they claim the 40,000 mile test is lagging because no one wants to drive it. They replaced the engine within the first 3000 miles.

It sure isn't only the z06.

This should be a wakeup call for GM - if not, it's pretty sad.

Pure embarassment. GM needs to have corrective & preventive actions in place.

But for the majority the Z06 really isn't a failure since 98% don't track their car at all and then for those 1% that do it may be only seldom or not consistently fast & hard enough to experience cooling issues... while the remaning 1% will eventually experience cooling woes, timing pulls, and/or limp mode.

Include me in that 1% metric that triggered limp mode in the track already but I honestly still enjoy my Z06 up to its limitations. I even had a C7 Z51 before my current Z06 and I don't regret upgrading nor do I regret still having mine and tracking it too. Frankly, for me I won't go back to a Stingray.

Granted the temps creep up in no time, especially the oil temp, since I do push hard and track fast.... at this point I just wish GM would provide remedies/solutions for all C7's and especially for us that experience any type of high temps due to continuous track exposure at a consistently high skill level (or even moderate) at the track.

Let that M/T article be a hard lessons learned to the GM C7 team. Inexcusable.

Nothing but positives about my Street Legal Race Car!
Only 2300+ miles on my A8 Z06, but very pleased and no overheating or anything.
But I am one of the 99% that doesn't track my car.

Someone at GM needs this to happen to them.

How many times has the Z showed up to the party only to disappoint. Really very sad as obviously the car is way better then this.

I bet Callaway is just loving this right now.

They will be laughing all the way to the bank as Stingray owners choose to use them for supercharging instead of buying the GM Z06.

How was it trounced by the Miata? even broken it had the 4th best time (CTS-V, Cayman, GTS), and the time was real close to the CTS-V
So, the car had obvious issues, but was still fast just not as fast as it should be.

It is interesting that MT has issues with the Z06 but C&D doesn't. Is MT getting a different car every test or is it one problem car?

In the MT opinion, the Z came in 10th, the Miata 3rd. Other factors other then lap time are involved in their ratings. As I stated earlier obviously the Z had issues and should have scored much higher but it seems when the Z shows up at some of the competitions the car has issues. IDK where the cars come from but if GM is giving one for a article they should make sure the car is perfect.
