What about wind noise or a driving rain? It's too bad that for almost 10 years (C6 and C7) this problem has existed and Chevrolet knows about it and can't or won't fix it. Seems it's a design or quality issue or both. My C6 was in several times for this as there was a notice out on it from GM. Friends of mine who never took the top off had no noise. Or so they said.

I went to Ed Bozart Chevy in Las Vegas. Will the service greater said he would have to have my car looked at by an official corvette technician before he could tell me if this would be covered under warranty. Is this standard? The is the first time I have brought my 2015 Z51 3LT into Ed Bozart. The car was purchased in California.
Can someone tell me if it is standard to leave your car for a day to have a technician tell you if the work would be covered or not?

Will doesn't have a clue. Your 2015 car is under warranty. I would have asked to speak to the service manager. As we all know there is a bulletin out on this problem. Typical Chevrolet service.

This is definitely covered by warranty. It should take them 5 minutes to pop the roof panel and verify that you have the defective black pegs. My recommendation is that you stand there with them and verify it yourself. The repair may take a couple hours, though.
Hope this helps

Thanks Guys - I am going to try one of the other Chevy dealers in Las Vegas next week. I wanted to try Ed Bozart because they are close to my house. I guess the rumors are no longer rumors for me. Funny thing, I have purchased trucks from the same dealership. Never had to have warranty work done. I guess it would have been the same.

Good point, the bulletin doesn't specifically say which roof, just removable roof.
Mine was the transparent roof and yes, it sure did creak.
Fix worked, not a peep out of it.

MikeZ06 Believe me the creak will be back if you take to top off or maybe even if you don't.
2Vette2--- Typical Chevrolet service. It's like the other poster here who had the service greeter named Will tell him they would have to have a tech look at it.
And creaking occurs only on carbon fiber roofs. Right
Chevrolet service and customer service sucks.

I had the fix done by GM end of Oct, put about 20 miles on the car and geez if I didn't get some creaking. Much better than it was with the old parts but come on GM , did you road test this fix? Car is now stored for the winter.
Previous to having this work done at the dealer I had completely eliminated the noise thru trial and error, including everything mentioned on this forum such as 0 rings etc. on the pins. Cut a piece of bicycle inner tube or similar type rubber, needs to be thin, maybe a 1/2" by 1" max. when you close the parts together at the windshield to fasten the roof insert the rubber between the two parts so they don't touch each other. They bind the rubber between them. It is the slipping of the two parts against each other that creates the noise, rubber stops that. This worked great, no noise at all , I did a long road trip for 3 days with the roof on and not a peep. Probably going back to that next year when I pull the car out of storage. Fortunately I drive top off most times.
Edit
Someone asked for a pic on another thread on this forum so here it is with my comments:
Here is a pic. I purposely stuck in a longer piece of innertube to let you see where it goes, so it is sticking out a bit here. Try to hold the inner tube up against the piece at the windshield (there is a slight cavity on the right side you want the piece to be up against that so the handle will move over the rubber) , when you close the handle make sure the rubber grabs between the two and stays between them. The stuff hanging out in this pic could be just cut off. I put this rubber on both the driver and passenger side, worked great. It's all about separating the two plastic pieces with the rubber as the meat in the sandwich so to speak.

After a week still no problems
I'm so fortunate to live close to Stingray Chevrolet. Called about the situation at 9:15 drove out of dealership at 11:30 with no creaks anymore. The guys sell so many corvettes they keep parts on hand as a convenience to their customers.
