Default Replacement tires

I have a question on new tires for a C7 Vette. Currently has Michelin tire that came on it. front are ZR19 & rear ZR20. I think the ZR is a high performance tire. They do not seem to be a good highway tire. It rides great on a smooth road but not many of them around. Is there a better tire to use to help soften the ride when on rougher highways? Thanks for suggestions! Greg

What year is your car and are the tires the original ones? The ZR is the speed rating for the tires and C7 Corvettes, as well as prior generation Corvettes, came standard with them. I do not have 19/20 size tires on my car (have 18/19) but I do have Michelin A/S 3+ ZP tires and the ride is very good.

The ZR is the speed rating for the tire....I would stay with a Michelin tire

A lot of us switch to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season. Still a "performance" tire but you can actually drive in the rain and below 40 degrees. It takes away the wheel hop with slow speed turns and does soften the ride slightly.

As you have noticed, the C7 road noise level depends on the road surface, mostly due to the minimal noise reduction material in the chassis and the proximity of the tires to the passenger compartment. I doubt changing tires will address that issue.

My car is a 2014 Premier Edition and the tires are original as it only has 13K miles on it. As far as road noise I’m not concerned with that. It’s just takes bump and rough patches on the Highway like it has solid tires. And it would be nice to get rid of that wheel hop making slow turns! Thanks for your answers. I will look into the Michelin Pilots!

Those will be old, hard, noisy and borderline dangerous, particularly in the cold/wet . As noted above, I'd look into the Michelin all season tires. If you are willing to give up the run-flat technology you can get a softer riding tire. Continental also makes a good non-runflat tire: EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS

I continue to use the run-flats for peace of mind and performance.

I highly recommend the Michelin PSS all-season ZP tires. I had 42K miles on my previous set with still plenty of tread left. I put new AS4 tires on my new Forgeline wheels because I like them so much. Good luck.
