Oct 1st consensus had slots for Z06s. Sounds like your problem is your dealer does not have an allocation at this time.

fdxpilot is correct. Either your dealer had no Z06 allocations last week, or your order contains a constrained item that the dealer did not get or you are not number 1 on their list (or any combination of these issues). You are probably at a low volume Corvette dealer that just doesn't get many allocations. Read up on allocations and constraints.

Default A 1st timer needing some guidance!! HELP!

So I am finally ready to order my first Corvette, a Z51 3LT with the standard roof, and I'm calling around. A high volume dealer (Hendrick) here in Atlanta tells me that if I order the car I want it is going to sit for who knows how long before my car is built. He says that it is due to constraints on Z51 and the carbon fiber roof...which seem like they would be most of the cars anyone would order.

I have a great relationship with a smaller dealer closer to me and am waiting to hear back on his response to this. He did tell me in the dealership that he has a couple of corvettes on order for clients that are taking longer than he would like at that their "allocation" is not as high as dealers in the downtown area.

The Hendrick guy says if I order a transparent roof my car will be built quicker but I dont want a transparent roof!! Oh, and just fyi, i'm doing museum delivery.

Please tell me what i need to know about this process and whether i should ditch my favorite dealership and go with the high-volume guy or I am okay to stay with the dealership i know and trust. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ADVICE!!!

With both Z51 and the Standard Roof (CFA) at 50%, the overall odds of any single allocation having both is 25%. So, if your dealer typically gets less than 4 allocations each cycle, there is a good chance that it could take a long time for them to get an allocation that would allow your order. If a dealer gets 4 allocations per cycle, there is a very good change that they will get at least 1 allocation each cycle that would allow your order. The reality is that these percentages are nationwide averages and do not necessarily represent any single dealership.

Since you are doing Museum Delivery, I strongly suggest you contact our large forum dealers who can get you your car quickly. It doesn't matter where your car is ordered from, it is going to be delivered straight from the factory to the Museum. Who (which dealer) your car is ordered from will most likely make a huge difference in how quickly you will get your car.

Again, being new, I have no idea how to contact the forum dealers you are referring to. How do I reach them??? Thanks SO much.

At the top of the forum there is a gray menu bar. One of the items is "Marketplace". Hover your mouse over it and a dropdown list will appear. The first item is "Vendor Directory". Click it. On the Vendor Directory page, select "Car Dealer" from the Show Vendors By Category drop down. A list of forum dealers will be displayed. Each entry will include the forum contact as well as additional contact information (website, email, phone, etc.). Happy hunting!

Since you're doing museum delivery, why not try Hendrick in Cary where I got mine and see what they say? It is NOT one big company. They compete. Another choice would be Kerbeck where I bought my '08. They have lots of cars in stock and are always ordering more to stay Number 1! Call Dave and see what he says. They have lots of allocations and always good prices. It looks like Z51 and CF painted roofs are 50% constrained so you need someone with a high number of allocations to get what you want the fastest.

I agree with everything that John (Zymurgy) has already shared with you. What I will add is that it's not uncommon for a dealer that does relatively low Corvette volume to receive allocations that include Z51 and CFA (painted carbon fiber roof). I'm the Corvette Specialist at a relatively low volume Corvette dealership and I haven't had any trouble ordering either item even though both have been on constraint. This is largely because demand hasn't exceeded supply by very much. (It was a lot different when constraint levels were 10 and 20%.)

If I was in your shoes, I'd give my dealer of choice an opportunity to fill the order with the understanding that if the order doesn't get "picked up" (as defined by the event code moving from 1100 to 2000) within whatever time frame you specify (four weeks seems reasonable), you'll get a full refund of your deposit and order from a large dealer without allocation issues. An order placed with a high Corvette volume dealer will get picked up immediately so the only thing you'll be risking is a the amount of time you're willing to give the small dealer before you cancel the order and go elsewhere.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try everything you guys said. I will keep you updated here on what route I decide to follow. I'm going to my Hendrick dealer tomorrow and I've left a message with Kerbeck. Wish me luck.

Dave,

I got with one of your other sales guys and he was awesome to deal with. Looks like we are going to be able to do business. I'm stoked and so glad you reached out to me about this allocation and constraint problem. And if I get the paperwork back and the price is what we agreed on, I'm gonna send ya a gift for hooking me up brother. Thanks!

fyi, customer service tells me my z06 is being built this week, 11/9, when there are zero z06's allocated, per the constraint report above....is this constraint report worth anything?

Although it is not listed on the constraint thread here, info from another online forum says the Oct 15th consensus contained Z06 allocations and also had a TPW of 11/9.

Default Z51 Order

I ordered my 3LT Z51 from MacMulkin Chevrolet. He had a Z51 allocation when I ordered - actually 4. They told me 6 weeks - my car was built 11/6/15. Just short of 6 weeks. Having it courtesy delivered to my city. So the key is using a dealer with the allocation. That top doesn't have a thing to do with it!!!!
