Default Clear Bra Wrap On Headlights?

I got a 2nd quote from another local Xpel installer today. While talking the owner he said I may want to think twice about having the headlights wrapped. He said both Xpel and 3M tend to yellow when applied over headlights. He also mentioned should sometime go out on the headlights GM will not replace or fix the headlight(s) because it had film applied to them.

Anyone else been told the same thing?

P.S. Yes, I know if something did go out on the headlight I could pay to have Xpel removed from the headlights becfore bringing the car to a dealer, but that's not the point.

I had 3M on my 2005's headlights for the entire nine years that I owned the car. They looked liked new when I traded it in on my 2015. I've had Xpel on my 2015's headlights for thirteen months and they also look like new.

XPEL warranty is 10 years. Put it on and don't sweat it.

Yeah I wouldn't overthink this one. You want them protected, so have them wrapped.

Makes me question the knowledge level of the XPEL installer. Like one of the previous posts, I've had 3M on a 2009 since new, everything is crystal clear.

Really doubt that GM is going to refuse warranty repairs on a headlight covered with XPEL or others. That would not be at all customer friendly. Don

the most I would put on the headlight plastic is a polymer seal, not film of any sort.

Wasn't there a problem with craze cracking on the C6's that put film on the headlight plastic covers due to head light heating?

Old wives' tale or the truth? I don't think it was ever resolved in the C6 forum...

Default Headlight crazing

There was a problem with headlight plastic crazing on the C6. My 2006 had it...and they were covered with 3M. Chevy came out with a notice stating that nothing should be used on the headlight plastic...but I think that related to cleaning agents and polishes....that these products could cause a deterioration of the plastic resulting in crazing. Mine were crazed, but I had no way of knowing if it was caused by the film.
I think GM may have improved the plastic covers later in the C6 production years. (??)
I plan to cover my C7 lights.

I appreciate all the great input

Based on everyone's input and experience I now plan have them protected. If the material yellows (like folks have said) it's covered under the Xpel warranty. If sometime goes wrong with the headlights themselves I'll remove the material before bringing it into to dealer.

The 10 year warranty should cover any yellowing.
