g. M. Does not care
i would like to know when g.m. Will respond to this well respected publication ..for being so critical of the corvette..
In fact c.r. Was critical of many g.m. Products ..
I would guess the stock will drop ..

I live in"denial" because my '14 Vette is trouble free after 2 years and 8,000 miles? It's better than where you live where the sky is always falling.

Maybe some car enthusiasts pay attention to CR but NOBODY who is knowledgeable about other enthusiast areas (i.e. high end cameras, audio, etc.) would do anything other than laugh at the CR methodology and reported results.
Fortunately for those who don't like the C7 most of you live in a free country so you don't have to own one. I despise sushi but I have never felt the need to join a sushi users site just to constantly bash it.

Here is Consumer's Reports on Best Sports Cars for 2015

Who was this made by? an editor who happens to own a corvette?
these things could be said for both.
I've had minor issues, but I wouldn't call them unreliable.

The 'respected publication' lost most of its respect years ago. The testing and reporting methodology is fundamentally flawed. They rate cars as less reliable by comparing a base model stripped down Kia appliance against a fully optioned Corvette. The vette simply has FAR more systems, features and options etc. They also include complaints of how infotainment systems work against cars that don't have an infotainment system.
Its no different when they 'rate' appliances, electronics or other products. They pontificate information on products they know very little about. Its almost to the point to read CR only to see what they 'recommend' in order to avoid those recommendations.

That's a 43% failure rate which really isn't a good situation (been there, not fun, lead to massive work). And of course people are mostly happy, they got the performance car they wanted and most issues didn't make it less of a fun ride. Plus it's on here so... But let's hope they improve
A lot of my opinion on this also has to do with my dealer and the fact that they have given me excellent service so far. For my failed coil (not failed car) I stopped by the dealership on my way home from work at 6:00 PM. The service writer said, "well none of our "Corvette guys" is here right now. Can you wait until tomorrow morning when one if them is in?" So I say sure no problem. The next morning I got a call around an hour and a half after the service department opened saying that it was a bad coil, it had been replaced under warranty, and car was ready for pickup. So no fuss, problem solved and has not happened again. Once again, no "massive work" here. Just stop by the dealership and the next morning its fixed and I'm on my way...no big deal.
So I reject the idea of counting my car as part of a "43% failure rate". If you count every little thing in that percentage, then every car will have a very high "failure rate". You are also lumping my minor little issue (only one in almost 19000 miles on the car) in with the failed transmissions and treating all issues as if they were the same.
I tend to talk about how all my cars since the late '90s have been relatively trouble free - but if I counted every issue as a "failure" then my '98 Dodge, 2007 Hyundai (also had an ignition coil replaced under warranty BTW), my 2010 Ford, and my wife's 2011 subaru are all "failures" in one way or another.
EDIT: By your reasoning, my 2001 C5 was the only car I've owned since the '90s that was not a "failure" as it was never in the shop even one time except for scheduled maintenance.

I have bought, owned, and ultimately resold many of the "least reliable cars" for the past 30 years (numerous Mustang GT's, Tahoe/suburbans, Grand Cherokees, CTS-V's, and now the Z06). I have had great luck with all of them, and resale has NEVER been a problem. The least reliable list comes out every year, and GM always has a prominent place on it. If this is news to you, then you need to get out more.
Relax, the sky is not falling, this report means nothing, and no "changes" will occur as a result.

Nearly 12,000 miles and over two years. The only issue was burped oil in the air intake which the dealer fixed in one visit. I wouldn't be on my SIXTH Corvette in 23 years of Corvette ownership if Corvettes were unreliable. So much false hysteria!

I traded off a Acura TL for my 2014 Stingray (#9 vette I've owned)...first day, service axle light comes on....turned out to be a simple sensor fix. whew...no other issues to date.

The C7 is loaded with problems and I would like to see the secret GM statistics on what they are and what it cost to repair them. It's cheaper to repair then correct the problem and with the 2017 models coming soon will they fix them. Social medial isn't helping GM keep these problems quiet and thanks to the owners for bringing these issues out in the open. Next year will bring more price increases and new and old defect that might get resolved.

Me too. Apparently, the koolaid drinkers think this is unreasonable. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy my C6Z. Yes, I too love Corvette and I sincerely hope things improve in 2017+.
