Oil Change at 3500 after z51 500mi change?
I got my 500 mile change done a few days ago, and just noticed the sticker they slapped on my window.
It says come back at 3500 for the next one. For almost 10qts of synthetic oil, that seems awfully soon.
I know the manual says generally 7,500 miles and I doubt the oil life monitor would hit at 3500.
Are other dealers advising 3k changes? Seems very... 90s

After my 500mi oil change they put a sticker that said come back at 5400 miles or 3 months later.
I don't think they have a clue what they are doing.
I'm going back at 6 months on the dot since I don't drive enough to reach 7500 miles before then.
Oil life monitor still reads 33% life left.

How true! Even if the Service Advisor knows... who knows what really goes on... Unless you WATCH them. Personally, i would only go to a dealer with a Window to the service bays so you can actually WATCH them doing the work. Otherwise... Unicorn blood it is...

Regardless of what the dealer tells you I would rely on my driving habits and the oil life monitor. The majority of us know about their car's engine and engines in general, with years of experience behind us we can tell from our guts when it is time to change the oil.
If the dealer is proactive they may be prone to send you a reminder that it is suggested that you have the fluids checked in your car. My salesman sends me emails when it is about time for an oil change...generally about 2000 miles after I have changed it. But they are trying to keep my business and the business of the other Corvette owners that they sold the cars to. Seems like a smart marketing move to me. If the dealership cares? then the Corvette owners are likely to become repeat customers.

To be honest Mobil 1 oil is completely overhyped by a lot of people on this forum.
It is not the best synthetic oil out there by far.
Do I want, prefer, and expect them to use Mobil 1? Yes
Would it be the end of the world if they put in another full synthetic dexos certified oil at the proper weight? No

That charge every XXXX went out years ago! Use the GM oil monitor, it uses engine rpm's, how hot the oil gets (short trips are bad) how many starts etc etc. The C7 monitor also uses time, unlike my C6 and prior Vettes that just said change after a year even if the oil monitor doesn't not indicate it should be changed - it clocks down with time. After a year it will say change on the indicator if you don't put on enough miles to require a change first.
