My forty year wait is over!!!!
I wanted a Corvette for forty years. My family and friends had to listen to me all those years talk & talk & talk about Corvettes. Why I waited so long I'll never know, maybe it was because I turned to my first love, flying airplanes that lead to owning two of them. I then took the Corvette money and bought a beach house. Now that airplanes and the beach house are behind me I placed my order in August and took delivery from the courtesy dealer on Tuesday.
Even though I did not purchase the car from them (CD) they gave me First Class service. Not only did they perform the GM pre-delivery inspection, the mechanic conducting the inspection spend over 1 1/2 hours doing it which included adjusting the misaligned driver door, SWEET!
Next it went into their detail shop for 2 1/2+ hours worth of detailing. Their head detailer polished the car with an orbital polisher than hand applied 3 coats of wax. Wow, my car shined when they were done, what OP? It was worth hanging around the dealer all day!
This car is fun to drive! It is one AWESOME car, and certainly worth the forty year wait The first time I started it up on Tuesday and left the courtesy dealer's lot was like the first time I taxied my plane onto the runway and pushed those throttles forward....It gave me the same awesome thrill!
I am sooooo happy I got the 703 trim package with the two tone seats, it looks fantastic, and the red stitching along the edges of the black portion of the seats, door panels, dash, steering wheel, and shifter really tops it off!
One thing about the car has surprised me. Although I have the NPP exhaust the car is very quiet with the windows closed, I hear no road noise. It is a pleasant surprise.
My 2 1/2 old grandson named my car Lightening McQueen, he spent over an hour sitting in it, running around it, turning on the lights, pretend drove it. He really likes the auto start feature.
I'm looking forward to many road trips in this dream car, including driving the entire west coast coastal route starting from the Canadian/Washington State border to Southern California then in the spring drive from Oregon to Key West Florida. Until then I will take many shorter road trips.

Congrats on a beautiful car! I, too, waited many years to finally own a Corvette. Worth the wait! Enjoy it in good health. Lots of pilots on the board. I flew a Mooney 201 for a few years. Was a crew chief on F-4E Phantoms in the Air Force. What planes did you own?

Congrats Maxie.
PS: Your birth announcement in the upper right hand corner says, "Touch Red", not "Torch Red" (in the first picture).
