Yes you do - not many and that is why it will likely go away

One reason for lower 2015 DSOM numbers is the fact that the color was not available until November 2014. Many people got tired of waiting and ordered their second choice.

I owned two 2005 DSOM convertibles, and there were very few in that 2005-2006 color. Let's face it...orange isn't what most people would order. I enjoyed quite a few years of almost being "one of a kind" color with the two C6 convertibles. I am now enjoying being a seldom seen color with my 2015 DSOM coupe.

Love having a "rare" color!

Mike Furman says GM makes these color decisions a couple of years in advance. If that's accurate, then sales volume has nothing (or little) to do with it, since the decision was made before any DSOMs had been sold.

Does anyone besides me find that logic difficult to understand? If it's true, then the decisions to drop colors like DSOM and Limerock Green were made before the colors even went into production.

Well Mike,

I am thrilled that I choose NRB for the 2015 Z51 you ordered for me. I get so many compliments when people see it in person. My first time at a Corvette event it was a beautiful sunny day. I had vette owners who never saw NRB in person ask me if it was a custom paint job,. I'm actually glad to see it's been discontinued. Mine will always be a bit unique.

Well, I suspect GM has enough history in terms of colors to predict what colors will do well over the long term and what won't. Aside from that, who knows what drives some of the decisions they make?

But I don't completely disagree with you. It would be interesting to learn what drives these decisions in the short term.

People who think NRB looks black haven't seen too many of them. They are dark, but nothing like the old "Daytona blue" of the C-2 era. My NRB looks blue, or purple, or black, depending on the sunlight. I've owned a 64 Daytona blue and a NRB 2014, and prefer the NRB because of the metallic in it.

Logic? GM? hmmmn, let me think about that one....GM knows well in advance what Percentage these colors will sell due to historical numbers. It's not like they have never produced Green, Dark Blue and Orange before.

I am sad that NRB is being discontinued. Going to date the year of my car at a glance, now my 2014 looks virtually like a 2016, when the 2017s comes out I will probably change cars. However, there are a few things that I hate giving up (HD radio, 0 to 60 timer).

Mike-

How firm was the November 12th deadline to order NRB? If it was a hard deadline, what exactly needed to be in place by the 12th? Thanks in advance.

The 12th is when the allocations were given out and Tuesday the 17th is the last day to get the order in to GM.

Then LRG must have been still born before GM even knew how it would sell.

Glad I got a one year color.

LRG is great. If it had still been available in '15 I would have had a hard time choosing between that and DSOM.
