GM Performance Parts (Survey)
RE: GM Performance Parts (Survey):
There was no opportunity given in the survey to provide comments, and I have one:
I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANY GM PERFORMANCE PARTS IF THE PARTS WILL IN ANY WAY VOID MY WARRANTY!
Expecting customers to purchase "Performance Parts" that would void their warranty makes me thing GM has lost its collective mind.
For me, it is a non-starter.

I hope it is answered.
My assumption (which doesn't mean squat), is that they mean the Factory Warranty for that Part that was replaced is not covered under the orginal waranty. Not that the whole waranty for the car is Void.
I can't see how they can void the waranty for the Radio for example because you used their parts to upgrade the brakes or cooling, etc.
It is the same as aftermarket parts, the stretch comes with if something related to the swapped out part fails they can claim it is because of the aftermarket part that some other part fails. ie. aftermarket intake and you sucked in water and hydrolocked the engine.
Lets face reality here, most of these "GM performance" parts are really just Z06 parts that can be retrofited to Z51 Stingrays and see a benifit. Many of these parts have been unoffically installed by Z51 owners since the Z06 parts were made available. You don't hear them saying "I changed my grille to a Z06 grille and now GM says my waranty is void"

Yeah, I call BS on the GM Performance Parts issue. If I spend $895 + installation for a tranny cooler from GM because of their design flaw, and they refuse the drive train warranty after my tranny blows, why buy anything from them?

With my Ducati's. If I purchase a Ducati Performance part, have it installed, it is covered for 2 years, same as the bike. Unlimited mileage. This includes "off road" track oriented performance parts. GM should take a hint.

I was discussing Z51 Sway Bars for my Base C7 with one of the Hendrick Dealers and the person said "but it will void your warranty".... which my response "That is CRAZY". I talked to the Service Manager, he said the policy is if a non-stock part (based on the VIN) is determined to cause a failure then it could void the warranty for that failure. He agreed that GM Sway Bars would not cause a problem.
I agree with this thread, GM should stand behind their own parts

I have no doubt that if GM were to get nasty about this mod that they would refuse to honor the warranty. I am sure that many others have added this kit to there base cars and would be terribly disappointed if their warranties were voided. Just does not seem right to kill the warranty if you are adding a part that will benefit the cars ability to handle better, after all it is a sports car which is supposed to handle well. And, damn, shouldn't Chevrolet's halo car come with the best suspension, out side of upgrades such as a Z51 or mag ride, as a standard feature?
I truly believe that GM is shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing most of the upgrades that they offer to continue to be covered by the basic 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.
If you are adding hp, torque to the engine I can understand , but suspension parts should be. Soon it will be aero and interior upgrades, and please don't paint the hood liner, fumes may get in the intake.
Sorry about unloading here, maybe it will be addressed by Tag. But as he is an engineer and not a bean counter, whom he no doubt answers to, I am not sure that we won't get snowed.

I just asked my Chevy dealer parts dept about these mods and she said they haven't gotten any information about them from Chevy Performance yet. I told her about this discussion concerning warranty coverage, and she said that if the parts are genuine GM, and sold by a GM dealer for use on a GM vehicle, she couldn't imagine how the warranty could possibly be affected. I know she doesn't set policy, but...

Corvette C7 Z06 Pull-Down Parts Become A Reality For Corvette Stingray: SEMA 2015
by Manoli Katakis
Nov 2, 2015
Last year, Chevrolet teased SEMA showgoers with a concept display of C7 Corvette Z06 pull-down accessories for the standard C7 Corvette Stingray. It made all the sense in the world for The Bowtie to green light such a program, and this year, we get to know what will be available for Stingray buyers looking to bolt on hardcore, warranty-backed performance parts onto their pride and joy.
