Consumer Reports is a good publication if you own an Asian car!

Gotta call a spade a spade .. I love the car yes.. but honestly the paint job is not what it should be on a car this expensive. The infotainment system had to be replaced and the seat seems to be wearing too fast. Im still grateful to have the privilege of owning one but I think they could have done little better in a few areas.

As I stated in another post I was a subscriber for many years. It seemed like over and over I was getting great service from cars they panned to the point where I dropped the subscription.

It was a survey .... CR did NOT test the C7 ..significant difference ...

Car and Driver DID test the car ....

Any survey can be faulty ...but folks do use them as a tool ..prior to purchase ....Ex. Trip Advisor ..etc..etc.

GM should be asking for details of the CR survey ..but no GM remains silent ...

I am not worried about what CR has to say. I go by how I feel.

Yes,so far I have a few minor beefs about my 2016 Z51, But WOW I love the car and the feel when I am driving it. OMHO

The C7 is nothing short of amazing.

Unless of course you don't mind keeping the A/C on.
The ventilation system without the A/C on is terrible and blows hot air from the upper vent. Documented in this forum with pictures and by a local Corvette Tech who said, "design inherent" issue.
I live with it and keep the fan off so I don't get cooked in the car from the hot engine bay preheating the air coming into the cowl inlet...measured at 110*F; inside 122*F at idle.
Good job by CR.
I'm surprised when people are shocked the air coming through the vents is hot, 460 hp directly in front of the intake area will do this and it's a sports car not a limo. The tunnel will be warm as well. People seems to complain about the weight but want all sorts of noise and heat insulation. IDK maybe it's just me but I fully expected this.
* edit, just noticed you're a Z06, so 650hp.

While I wouldn't mind a little better paint the car really is inexpensive for the performance you're getting. Something has to give somewhere I guess but really this car kills or stays with cars twice as expensive.

Other then a issue with my memory seat at 10k my car has been awesome. The infotainment is slow and clunky but whatever, it gets the job done, I didn't buy the car for that.

and yet…the overwhelming majority ARE very good! Just for example, J D Powers "most satisfied owners" rating among so many others. Not perfect, of course, but usually very, very nice, with few serious problems. Ours has been nearly flawless in 6500 miles.

I love my Corvette but you guys blasting consumer reports because they give our car a bad rating are hilarious.

Despite what you think Consumer Reports is a fairly good indicator of reliability on things.

I've thought they were full of it in the past and gotten burned for going with things they did not recommend.

So what if our Vette is one of the most unreliable cars right now, is that a surprise to me?

Nope.

We have a Chevy, a sports car, and a new model. Its completely understandable, if however unfortunate, that the Vette is on the list.

I rely on and participate in truedelta.com. I encourage people to sign up for it. The more who do, the more info we will get on our C7's.

I believe Consumer Reports definitely dropped the ball on this one.Where others I believe have said car of the year.Or in the top 5.
Oh the reason they said it's poor cause it don't have A back seat, lol.
For Supposely being A lousy car they are definitely getting a lot of attention.

So, we all own a car that ranks as one of the 20 Least Reliable New Cars. We're at #5 and the Top Problem areas are: In-Car Electronics, Engine, and Climate System. (How did they miss the paint?)

The only people that can do something about that are the decision makers at GM.

I'm really enjoying my 2016. And I'm willing to pay for a not so reliable new car so that I can have the performance thrill that comes "standard" with this terrific car.
They missed the PAINT issues ?? WTF ? Even GM caught that, and is building a new paint facility... hmmm Where are all these people that responded to this survey ?

I would assume they had far worse problems than the paint ...but I do understand your point ..

the survey and their tests are two different issues ...one has nothing to do with the other ....

1) The paint was on the car and clearly visible when you bought it. You took ownership of it that way meaning that you were comfortable with it. I don't understand the complaint.
2) Paint is not a reliability issue which is what CR cares about.

Face it its a lousy car when it comes to the quality of its parts. Consumer Reports is a well respected and read publication. I have never had so many issues with a Corvette as I have with this turd. Even my C4s had better reliability.

Chevy hit a home run with the design of America's iconic sports car. Maybe, just maybe, the factory might put more emphasis on quality control over quantity control if they want CR to provide better ratings.
