Interesting photos from recent California road trip
My wife and I took a road trip through Central and Southern California the last week of October, 2015. We stopped and took a number of photos of our 2015 ZO6 to be submitted for a 2016 Corvette Calendar. One of the photos is being published in the calendar but I will not know which one until early December. Here are three of what I believe are the most interesting photos:
1. HWY 1, Central California Coast, Bixby Creek Bridge. You have probably see this bridge before (background) as it has been featured in many car commercials but never from this angle.
2. Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego. A truly moving place when you see a never ending sea of graves of our courageous veterans. This place has a special meaning for me as my brother, U.S Marines, is buried here.
3. Our Corvette in front of an SR-71 Blackbird, once our most secret airplane. There are very few on display in the U.S and I believe that this is the only one that you can drive up next to. This was taken at the Castle Air Museum (former Air Force Base) near Merced, CA.

Great pics and a gorgeous car!!
I think there are still some aspects of Blackbird that are classified. An amazing spy plane!

I think that all three are great pics. I just don't see #2 getting published as some people would think a cemetery is a sacred place and a car is not a good representation of those buried there. Just my thoughts.

First, beautiful photos. Second, like #3 for something published. Having said that, I like #2. I'd be pissed if GM used it in a marketing campaign, but as a personal photo, it compels me.
American Icon surrounded by American Heroes. If it weren't for those brave men and women, there wouldn't be a Corvette. Photos are a lot about where your eye focuses first. Saw the crosses first, and felt a sense of pride/sadness. Then saw the Corvette. Came together for me.
By the way, photos are great, and so is your car!

As to your comments about photo number two, your observations were right on target. As I stated in my intro to the photos this was a tribute to the veterans-- those who gave us the freedom to earn whatever we wanted, like a Corvette. It case you missed it, I stated that cemetery was special to me since my brother, who died in combat with the U.S. Marines, is buried here.
As to the car, we love it. It is one of only 245 2015 ZO6's to have the factory carbon flash dual racing stripes. This is my fourth Corvette and the third red one. This will probably also be my last Corvette.
