Default Sta-Bil add in tank

Mine goes to bed for the winter so wanted to put Sta-Bil in the tank.
Put a funnel in the fill hole and proceeded to pour about 8 ounces of Sta-Bil in. Thought it was a done deal when I got done until I saw the garage floor had a puddle of it on the floor. Suspect it went into the overflow tube rather than the tank.
So, what's the answer? Suspect I need a "long tube" funnel to by-pass the overflow?
Other solutions?

STUPID ME TOO!!
Use the funnel that came with car located in floor of rear hatch area left hand side...IT IS LONG ENOUGH TO psh open th of the filler...just like a gas nozzle when you fill your tank...took me a large puddle to figure that out too!!

That's why the fuel filler tube is supplied with the car. It will open both spring loaded flappers when adding fluids to the fuel tank.

I had 8 oz left from a 10 oz bottle of some fancy Stabil from last year. Only wanted to put 5 oz in. The bottle neck seemed long enough. It was. Only problem was when I tried to pull it out with 3 oz left, it got stuck and all 8 oz drained before I could get it out. No biggie, but glad it wasn't the 1 gallon size. Think the problem was the cap threads on the bottle got hung up in the inner, small hole. Might try a smooth funnel next time or refill the now empty bottle with the precise amount.

Why would you be running octane booster unless you're turbo or supercharged or running higher than stock compression? 91-93 octane will give you all the engine needs. Don

I plan to add stabil to my C7 in the next week or two. That will give me time to run the tanks down to ~1/4 full before adding. Why? It's my understanding it is to get sufficient mix into both tanks when I then top them of with fresh 93 before storage not as the last step to add stabil.

Is this correct, necessary, and what others do? It looks to me like both tanks draw down together but fill the driver's side first then the other. Or am I missing something? Maybe the fill neck extends to the bottom of the driver's side tank thus mixing better?

I believe you are correct and I did the same by adding Stabil before fueling so it can mix into the gas in both sides.

I didn't know the vette has 2 gas tanks. Geez, we all supported GM and got a vette and that's the "tanks" we get? (couldn't resist the pun)

Is Sta-Bil recommended by GM as being compatible for all their fuel system components? Also, what are the Corvette fuel tanks made of, metal or plastic?

All C7 come with this apparatus? Located where? Pics? I have looked several times in the rear storage compartment for a funnel. There is none.

For the relatively short period of time most are storing their cars, Stabil isn't needed. I had my 1961 Oldsmobile in storage for three years and the fuel performed ok. Fuel mileage was down slightly, otherwise no problems.

As several have posted, the C7 comes with he appropriate length, diameter funnel! Recently used it to put in the GM specified gasoline additive suggested if you don't always use Top Tier gas. The part numer is in the Owner's Manual. Went in fine, nothing spilled.
PS: Note the instructions on the bottle of the GM additive say to add to a near empty tank at a gas station, then fill up the tank. Helps mix it in the gas. It's only recommend to use it at each oil change. I added it because of issues raised about the tank fuel pump and sender being harmed by excess sulfer in some gasoline that is not Top Tier, which this additive is reported to remove. Thought it also would be of help cleaning the injectors.
It is probably the sme as Techron, which some gasoline contains, making them Top Tier. If it's noting other than Techron, you can buy it for less cost.
