C7 Jake Logo - really ??
Ok, I know the potential of starting a sh@@ show here may be great but I am really curious as to people thoughts on the Jake logo. Myself, I think it looks rather silly, and even outdated, but I respect that it is the official racing logo of Corvette. Similarly I respect the different people have different tastes.
I almost wonder if someone said, " Lamborghini has the bull, Ferrari has the horse, Porshe stole the Ferrari horse...so we need something. Let's do the skull look."
So...what say you....yea or nea? Silly, Cool, ridiculous or clever?

Been used by the racing team for years. I think it look fantastic. I ordered it as the hood stinger on my SG '16. I believe you will find yourself in the minority.

2004 and yes I read the background on it here:
http://jalopnik.com/5249746/the-hist...racings-mascot
Still curious as to whether it is a track car thing or people think it looks good on typical Stingrays/Z06 versions...
You're point is well made though and thank you...guess I want to know just that...whether I am seeing things the wrong way in this case.

I have no plans to put them on my car. I had no idea it was an actual GM/Corvette logo until i bought a Vette and read about it. I imagine the majority of non Vette owners have no idea what it is and just think someone wanted to cover their nice car with skull stickers.
That said if someone has them on their car and likes them, I have no problem. Just not for me

I think "Jake" belongs on C7R race cars. Not street cars. There are some who plaster "Jakes" all over their car and IMHO they look like a**. Guess they think it's cool. to each his own but no "Jakes" for me.
I'm sure the KING of "Jakes" will post the same pictures of his car that he has posted for over a year once again when he sees this thread. Probably throw in an obnoxious comment to boot. Same story, different day. Love the "ignore" feature of this site

I think it looks good on the actual C6R and C7R track cars mixed in with the other decals and paint scene, but it's never been something I've wanted to add to a street Corvette.
Edit - (Until 2019).

Looks great on a race car, and on T-shirts, however not on my Corvette. As you stated other cars have animal logos, Corvette always had and still has the crossed flags of Chevrolet and the Checkered Finish (winning) flag, that is good enough for me. Especially since Chevy/GM seems to change the logo style each generation to make it unique for that era.
The Stingray on the car looks great, and again, I have seen so many OVERDO things, but that is their own interpretation and taste. To me simple is better. I still subscribe to the plain look of modifications, not the outlandish or pushing the edge, as I am conservative this is reflected in my car.
Just last week, I hesitantly put a US Flag (real nice plaque type) on the back of my 14 Stingray, and that is because of what is going on in this country, I am proud to be an American and just felt I needed to do this, although I ordinarily would not put any type of plaque of sticker on the back, this does look nice, yet other may not like it, I accept this, as it's my car. I feel the same about people who like to JAKE up their cars, their car, their taste, and they do what they like.
So JAKE, is great on the race cars, for me, I think that is where they should stay, too many Stingrays on the car looks tacky to me too....different strokes (you know the rest).

I think it looks good as long as it is not done to excess. Putting one in the stinger area does look pretty good IMO.
