Default Dealer asking for "5 stars"

Brought my C7 in to have the squeaky roof addressed and before they even finished the car the Service Writer is already asking me to make sure I give him "5 stars" on the survey. Does anyone else find this less than professional?

Anyone else have a similar experience? How did you handle this?

Can anyone recommend me a good dealer in SFLA, and if you have the name of a service writer and Corvette tech that would be even better

It's necessary when the scoring system is pass fail, a 100 pct is an "A" and a 99 pct is a "d"

They have to ask, a "d" can hit them up to 20 pct less in their paycheck.

The system is very unfair, but a service adv asking is understandable.

this does not have to be contentious! I like giving my serv adv a 100 as they do the work right. If you want to hit them hard because they deserve it, go ahead but be prepared to find a new dealer, they MAY hold it against you.

Did you tell him "give me 5 star service an I'll give you 5 star survey response"

I get asked this on our Caddys as well and agree it does seem a bit unprofessional. The problem the way it's been explained here, and I agree, is that it's kind of an 'all or nothing' result for the one being rated. There are times when the service writer/mechanic do their job well and there is either a failed part or one received incorrectly making for a bad service experience that was not the 'fault' of the ones being rated. The survey itself is what needs to be rated! Honest input should be welcome and the opportunity to provide it should be available along with an explanation and not just a number response.

Broken implies that it worked at one time. I don't think it has.

It's really a poor system. You can put "anonymous" surveys in and it destroys the reason for them if you can figure out what to do to correct something.

Very poor system.

I've read others giving less than a glowing 100% and getting perma banned from the dealer. Don't give em less than 100% unless you have a plan B dealer to take your car to.

First service, the service adviser said the exact same thing to me - they loose pay. Next time I came in, he thanked me for my prior 5 star rating. So indeed they know and remember.

I give what is fair and I try not to be unreasonable.

If they are courteous and handle my issues/requests they get 5 stars.

If something needs to be addressed and they do so quickly and get it right, they still get 5 stars, if not no 5 stars.

I've never had a dealer hold a non 5 star rating against me and if they did I'd make sure that GM dealt with it appropriately.
I'm one of "those guys" that will take it to the media and put you on the local news if you try and screw with me.
Treat me fair and I return the sentiment, likewise the other way around.

Very true. I had this happen at a Ford dealer when I gave them a less than perfect rating because I was not totally satisfied with my service. When I returned to that dealer they did not want me as a customer. I was shocked when the Service Manager told me it was because of my last rating.

GM wont do a thing, if the dealership doesn't want to work in your car , he can tell you that. Thank the state franchising laws for that. GM has no power. A few cases here , where that happened.

Like what is said above, if you're going to burn them, have a plan B ready.

Never have been asked to give a 5 star rating. If they do the job/ service as expected they get 5 stars. If there is a problem I would bring it to their attention to be corrected, if they do fine 5 stars.
With the system being as it is I would always give them an opportunity to correct any issues and would always discuss any dissatisfaction with them before I hit them with less than 5 stars.

My dealer has never asked me to give them 5 stars. They do call me the day after my service to ensure I was totally satisfied. I always have been satisfied with their service.

I read some of the nightmares you guys go through at dealers. I'm one of the few who are totally satisfied with my dealer.

I'd give them one star.

I'm wondering if their system has a notation for friend (5 star) or foe. My guys are much more diplomatic in the survey discussion. The two times I've been in for warranty service I said I'd take care of them and I did (5's). The service mgr even called me after to say thanks.

It's all in the approach. I have no problem with the service advisor making sure I am aware of "the system." I let them know I am familiar with how the system works and that should be the end of it.
