I much prefer the look of the engine covers on the car - gives it a more finished look.

I think the cover looks cheap and hides the engine under a silly looking plastic cover. Can't wait to install an E force SC so I'll have a good looking engine to look at and I can throw that cover in the garbage where it belongs.

It's all good to me. But I just leave the hood closed and drive it.

This is pretty much the way I feel about it. For those that like to mod, your cars look great, those that want to go topless...please do. Me...I just want to drive mine.
No losers here.

I leave the covers on, but mine are painted to match the interior of the car. Different strokes for different folks!

This. I never open the hood except to check the oil and don't do car shows so don't really care much what it looks like. I bought my C7 to drive, not look at. To each their own.

I'm on a mission to reduce IAT's. Easiest way to build and maintain HP is lower IAT's. So here is alternative: stock plenum cover has a nice blanket underneath it. So all the heat builds off the block and then it is wrapped into the intake manifold with a nice blanket So, took off the plenum and blanket, but retained the smoothy coil covers. Best of both worlds, looks good and reduced heat

You simply reuse the 4 bolts holding the plenum cover, that is what your coil covers will snap into:

A before & after dyno run would be nice to see if there's any measureable difference with and without the cover.

I would doubt it. Not real world conditions on a dyno. A few passes with and without might show some minor improvements.

Does that top cover just pull right off?

You mean the plenum cover? No, there is an electrical connection, wire looms that are tie strapped to the cover, and four bolts, easy peasy.

I agree, on the dyno the hood is open and they have big fans blowing air. It would take before and after IAT readings on the road to prove the point. It was Fasterproms that alerted me, it is on a thread about ported intake manifolds. He also recommends removing the weatherstrip seal at the back of the hood. If I can find that post I will share (can someone tell me how to copy and paste another thread)...

Really ... Engine covers are cosmetics! (I'm an engineer) The engine should be shown. Beauty is in the engineering.

Vote, NO engine covers.
