Good plan.

OK guys and gals, we all wanted the Corvette to be in the same league as Porsche and Ferrari, I think it has arrived.
As has been stated this is the case with many new cars, even my wife's Lacrosse has a running light and headlight on the passenger side that requires removing lots of stuff to change the bulbs.
As the light is covered by your 3 yr. 36,000 mile BUMPER TO BUMPER warranty, most of us won't have to worry about replacement, and those that do, well you bought a Corvette.
Not trying to be a smarty pants but you know.
I drove my C6 for 5+ years and never had a light go out...hoping for the same with my C7.
I agree with C7Joy, front comes off...Z06 grille goes on!

Are we sure the bulb is dead? Possibly a loose connector? HID lamps have a MUCH longer lifespan than the previous incandescent design, it is rare that one would fail within the first few years of use.

Sadly, even if it was just a loose connection, you have to pull the nose to get to the light pod to check. I bought a pair of 6K bulbs for around $225. When I did the bulbs, I plopped in the Z06 grill. The dealer is charging double for the 1 bulb and then slapping on the labor.

I drove my C6 for almost 11 years and 45000 miles. Probably turned the head lights on a dozen times. May be the least of any future problems.

At least on my C6, I can access the bulbs through a panel in the wheel opening.
So, you figure a bi-xenon bulb from a Porsche/Mercedes/Audi dealer is less? How much money do you want to bet?

Really Chevy? WTF No access panel.... great design

if anyone has had the experience and found a reasonable solution, please chime in!
Warranty?

I'd be afraid that the bulbs wouldn't really match the OEM.

Though, you could put it in, see if it matches, and since everything is apart already, replace the other side.... (5 times over and still be cheaper...)

The 6K will NOT match the OEM bulb, you'd need to get 4300K to match the OEM. Personally, I like the 6000K as it is more to the whiter side and not as yellow as the OEM color.

Still 2 6000K @ $55 is cheaper than the dealer is offering.

This. I had a Lexus with HIDs that I gave to my son. Both original bulbs were still fine after 10 years, when he got rid of it. My Miata HIDs were still good when I got rid of it after 6 years.

Quick Reply: $500 light bulb?!?!?!?
