How about banned from owning fast cars...
Staying on course, my point is the auto can make the driving experience more fun by helping the driver optimize performance in demanding situations.

I agree that the A8 is a plus in demanding situations. Your example is reckless driving and something that I've seen far to often on crowed highways.

Yeah, the highways here aren't as crowded, but you never know.

Maybe I should go back to manual trans so I have to drive slower and slow down to shift. These A8's really allow you to put the power down. It's crazy.

Speaking of banned...I hope we don't get too far off topic. I am assuming you posted that because it was an auto trans.

Slow down to shift? WTF? Even if you haven't perfected heel & toe shifting, the manual has a rev match option.

Please kill this thread! This is ridiculous. How long will this debate last? I like manuals. They are more fun to me. For those who like autos, more power to you.

Whatever you drive is fine with me. But your statement is a little misguided about getting a manual so you have to drive slower and slow down to shift.
You do realize or perhaps not the M7 has no lift shift feature, no need to slow down or let off the gas.

I simply wanted the MOST performance I could get in a stock performance package... and the A8 is it. Ask GM...

Quicker 0-60, quicker 1/4 mile, likely faster top speed (although unproven), faster around most race tracks (Until they over heat... )..

Just a FASTER car..... Its just that simple.

If the M7 makes you stick guys feel more like "race car drivers" or gets you some cardio from rowing gears, more power to ya.... Can't go wrong with either trans, but this superiority complex stuff most of the manual guys are spewing is just ridiculous...

To each their own. I choose an M7

I drove 3 separate a8 cars bc I wanted "all the performance "

The paddle shifters did me in, too sluggish for me. I drove my buddy's pdk 911 GT3 to compare. I need to be involved
D would not be were I would drive most of the time.

A8 wot to redline absolutely amazing trans in D

paddle shifters Very disappointing to me in the lag.

With all the city driving I do not sure how much I can use wot at redline for fast shifts

I can enjoy my M7 at all throttle appliancations.

Btw I have an 8spd auto in my Yukon Denali and love it.

I have no ego issue going for the auto.
That was the car I intended to buy... until I drove it.
