New here - what does this mean?

Dealer said he officially put my order in on Tuesday and he'd have more info today. Said the System they use to track orders was wonky today and definitely get me an "order # tomorrow." (Laguna Blue Z51 - 1LT Coupe - no other options)

He pulling my chain?

Thx

It just means that for the production week of 1/26 that certain options are limited. In this case the Z51 is limited to 60% of orders. Constraints have gotten much better over time. You should be ok.

My 2016 C7 Z51 made allocation with 60% constraint on the Z51 package for this TPW!

Glad I was in the 60%, and not the 40%!

An order number means nothing. Every order input to the system gets an order number. You need to get the status code. Unless it is at 2000 or greater, you've got nothing. Your order will sit at 1100 until your dealer gets an allocation that allows your build (includes Z51) and assigns your order to that allocation. If your order is part of this weeks consensus, your dealer should be able to give you the 2000 or greater status by next Tuesday. If your order is not at 2000 or beyond next Tuesday, that means your dealer did not have an allocation he could assign your order to.

If he put your order in on Tuesday you should have an order number. If he gave you a copy then it's on that. You can then check your status on Chevy chat, although the best source is your dealer, their system is generally more current than chat.

That clears it up, thank you.

Would the dealer know if he has an allocation? Would he know if was coming if he didn't have one at the time I signed the papers? I left a pretty heafty deposit with the impression that an order was going in for production.

What question(s) should I be asking them tomorrow when I take a drive over to the dealer?

Thanks

Yes, somebody at the dealership would have known if they had an allocation available for your order. This person is probably NOT your salesperson. Talk to the sales manager and ask point blank if your order has been assigned to an allocation. Ask for the order status code.

Dealers do not know in advance exactly what allocations they are going to get until they actually get them. If they are a high volume Corvette dealership, they'll have a pretty good idea what they'll be getting, but not exactly. On the other hand, a low volume Corvette dealer that only gets an allocation sporadically will not have much clue what they are getting when.

I just looked at the GM Global Connect Order Sheet he sent me on the 5th and it has a 6 letter order code and the event code is 1100.

It says "congratulations your preliminary order has been submitted."

So I'll ask about allocations and what the current event code is. I'll hope for a 2000 but it seems it may be a few weeks before I receive that.

He sells about 50 Corvettes a year. He has 6 on his lot right now.

Appreciate the guidance. VERY much.

I ordered my 2015 Z51 with chrome wheels & body color top in Nov of 14. Got the car just in time for NE driving. Late April 2015. Z51,wheels & top held me up. Hopefully things are better now.
I had some friends order in the early spring of 15 and they were told right out that if they ordered with the body color top their orders probably would not be filled. Most guys went for the transparent top option. It's tough to pay over 1K for a top you don't want and give up a CF body color top worth about 3+K new.
