Interesting..... but WHY is it needed? I haven't seen it suggested on the manufacturer's website installation info.

Thanks ! I'll check them out now.

I put RaceDeck free flow xl tiles down, they work and look great. I got the gj discount then sat on the quote for a week or so and they came down further and added free shipping. Ymmv I suppose on if that'll work for you or not. I'm very happy with them.

For what it is worth I was told NOT to do this, it will trap water and has potential to mold.

People use it because of the noise, I have never noticed and noise from walking on it that is bothersome.

That would have been my thoughts too.

My garage is heated. It never gets colder than 55 in there and the floor has been down for 11 years.

For the first year I didn't have the underlayment and it creeked and crunched and the underlayment really gave it a nice layer to settle into.

Maybe not for all - but RT Corp suggested it when I called for suggestions.

I used landscape cloth under mine (Proslat). So far, very happy with the product.

Ahhh underlayment

Excellent thought as even the cat walking across makes a clickity clack. No one will sneak up on you with race deck and know underlayment

Wish a had this tip earlier

I have the solid motofloor from Costco which is supposed to be made by the the same manufacture as race deck. The stuff is awesome.

I went with Racedeck Free Flow XL tiles (w/GJ discount). Here in Houston, the heat and humidity got me concerned about mold/mildew under the tiles. Couldn't be happier with the results. Clean up is simple: either shop vac or hose it down - no real hassle either way.

Racedeck Free Flow was a no-brainer garage mod.

Seems easy enough to broom sweep, or use my compressor to blow out the garage if I have solid tiles. I'm guessing I would have to use a shop vac to suck up all the little stuff if I go with Free Flow???

I believe I can also do a combination of solid and Free Flow (under the cars) as well.

Decisions, decisions..... from those who have used RaceDeck, any one wishing they had done something different.... solid vs free flow ?

I'm leaning towards the SOLID, Diamond pattern for ease of normal clean up of the floor.

thanks,
Richard
RaceDeck. Solid & Freeflow. No regrets

The thing I don't like is I can't jack up my cars one corner at a time, as the tiles buckle and move with the car. I have a G8GT with Pilot Super Sports, and they don't seem as grippy as the C7 Pilot Super Sports, and the tires bring the tiles along with them. There is a guy on garage journal that has a bunch of YouTube videos showing him jacking his vehicles and changing tires without issue.

I can use the driveway for jacking if needed, but I have race ramps for oil changes and stuff that doesn't require wheel removal.
I have used floor jack on Racedeck, no issues

I chose RaceDeck which now have been down for over 12 years. I love them.....had zero issues. Give them a good scrubbing once a year. The only thing I would not do again is use the white tiles. The tire tracks are harder to remove. I'm probably going to change out the white ones with light gray. Make sure you leave a little expansion room around the perimeter as they will expand in the summer when the door is open and the sun is hitting them.

I went with the RaceDeck free flow tiles and could not be happier. They do click when you walk on them which doesn't really bother me personally. It is super easy to clean, as has been mentioned. I run a Shop-Vac over mine every couple of weeks and mop it to clean tire marks off. I do a lot of rinsless washes on mine and didn't want the water standing on top of the tiles.

I went back and forth between epoxy and the tile. I'm glad I went this route.

Any problems with the four-post lift on the motofloor tiles? If not, this looks like my best option.

Zero problems with the lift on the motofloor. The only thing I have done to dent the floor is put a heavy vehicle with jack stands on it. It put little indentions where the jack stand legs were. If I didn't point it out you would never see it. I have since then learned to put a 12" x 12" piece of 5/8" plywood under each jack stand I am using.
