Default BASH Questions

I'm new to Corvettes and started lurking around this site last summer while in the process of buying my car and have read a lot of threads about and referencing the BASH.

I have a general idea of what this event is about but can someone fill me in on what it is specifically? Is it an industry event, require an invitation?

Thanks!

What it is, It's more or less a pre introduction of the next model years Corvettes 2017 in this case. They have seminars put on by GM staff showing the changes and improvements coming for the new model year. They will have 2017s on display in the latest colors and options. They hold several Q&A sessions with engineers about the new models and updates. They also have some aftermarket vendors as well. If you are considering ordering a 2017 model early in the order process this is a must attend event you will know more about the 2017 car than the Dealer at that point. They will also announce the 2016 last order and build out dates as well as when the first 2017 orders can be submitted and when the 2017s will start production. If you plan on ordering a 2017 you really should attend. Keep in mind a few weeks before the Bash some information on the new models starts to leak out and if you can't attend the Bash EVERYTHING will be posted here at least 10X.

If you havent been to a bash and you want to get loaded up with some good tech info, direct from the engineers that build it, as well as be around a ton of other Corvettes...it's a must go. I've been many times...love going...wish the demographics were a little more my age, but so be it. That seems to be shifting slowly. With the track across the highway now also, you gotta go there.

Can someone help answer this? Are there any vendors out in the parking lot like the old days? I've not been there for a number of years and the Museum website does not indicate IF there are outside vendors at this event?

A friend just got a new car and was aiming to go to the bash to buy accessories but I am not sure that is available anymore.

Thanks

Greg,

there will be a handful of vendor booths inside and outside, but basically only the ones who sell their stuff through the Corvette Museum Store. So more to promote their stuff rather than sales. Most of it will be apparal, floor mats, cleaning supplies, art,...
The bash is an awesome event, but if you are really looking to shop around and buy stuff (like performance, exterior, interior mods) I would say Corvettes at Carlisle is your best shot.

Having never been to a bash, is it safe to assume that the demographics tends to be a more "mature" crowd?

I would add the Bloomington Gold event as another alternative for a place to walk around, talk to vendors, buy stuff, etc.

It's being held at Indy Motor Speedway this year.

Thanks for the replies about the vendors. I use to go to the Bash 15 years ago before the Museum took it over. I will say I believe it was a better event back then a group of guys the C5 Registry basically taught the museum how to put on these events.

The Registry was a come as you are lets see what happens event and had lot of diverse things to do. I'd miss the various vendors, they add color to an event. Taking bus trips or caravaning to some tourist trap is not for me.

And yes there are a lot of seniors attending from what I see on the webcams.

Yeah. I've been going to this and similar events for a while, and finally managed to reach age 66. To be exact, friday the 29th will be exactly 6/10 of a year after my birthday.

What I'm saying is, on that day I'll be 66.6 !!...

So fair warning, on that day this old-timer will be checking-out the sinkhole. My age will be only 1/10 of the evil number, so I'm not worried. What could possibly go wrong ??...
