Default Does your Corvette need a hibernation break?

Chances are if you own a Corvette and reside in the northern reaches, you’ve now had your baby stored for weeks. But what would it take for you to bring her out a little early?

Look guys... watch this video, then go to your garage. That corvette thats sitting in there is sad. Its telling you, "i am meant to be free, free like a bald eagle. I want to be free and rip the roads with the rain and beautiful scenery. Let me out." Your corvette will appreciate it

Thanks, but no thanks.
When I had the C5, I read enough threads on these forums of guys who took their pride and joy out in the winter, hit a patch of ice then took out a curb. The result was a totaled car and all the PITA that entails. Even here in NC, when it snows or freezing rain, the Vette stays indoors. That's what I have a beater for.
I'll give it all the freedom it wants come springtime.

Actually it didn't snow here in CA. So I'm good. Message was more of a, enough garage queens kind of thing

Have to admit, watching that beautiful Enzo play outside, SO fun!
Cleaning up afterwards for all us OCD people?
Not so fun.
Our cars will not venture down our graded driveway in snow or ice, we'd be in the swampland ditch across the driveway.
Water/rain, sure.

When all the tons of rock salt and sand are off the roads (tons at least in my area) then it will be free to leave the garage. As of now my DD 4x4 pick up gets the miles!

Its a depreciating asset. As long as you drive responsibly and have the proper winter tires there is no reason why you should not drive it. I know guys that drive their Corvettes all year round.

Not here. No one we know buys winter tires for their Corvettes nor drives them in the winter. Too much slurry/salt/sand/ice. Didn't get a Vette to drive in that, that's for my DD.

Not likely to take mine out in snow, but I was out in 21 degree temps this morning. A/S tires, no problems at all. It did take about 13 miles before the tires stopped reading as "cold", though.

This must be somewhere in Detroit, I saw a '15 on I-75 yesterday and another one on Woodward last week. Just started driving my '05 again after my winter ride a '10 Camaro got totaled Christmas Eve. We all love these cars so to each his own as to drive or not to drive....For those of us that enjoy the winter....have fun in the empty parking lots....

I took my 16 conv. out tonight, when I backed out of garage and checked and seen it said my tires are cold. Then after 1 1/2 hour meeting with other Corvette fellows at Burger King with the temp at 6 degrees it said the tires were frozen first time for that. It wanted out of the garage so I had to take it for a ride.

Amen brother. Mine stays inside during the winter months.

How can you tell if it's a 2014, 2015 or 2016 without looking inside? I know that the 2016 has a flat-bottomed steering wheel. The 2015 paddle-shifts (like mine) have the phrase "Eight Speed" on the shifter, whereas the 2014 paddle-shifts have no markings on the shifter. I cannot tell a 2014 manual from a 2015 manual. I didn't think anyone could.

Is there something I'm missing?

I have been tempted to jump the gun on the season. I don't because it pretty much defeats the whole purpose of winter storage in my view.
