Default Transparent top - how good job liners do with heat?

I'm looking at a used Vette and it has the transparent roof, which I wouldn't order. It's not a showstopper but I live where it gets HOT and am wondering, of the aftermarket liners you can stick up there to block the sunlight, how well do they keep the interior cool compared to a "normal" painted/carbon roof?

Default Transparent top - how good job liners do with heat?

Very well. I had a clear top on my C6 and have one on my C7. In the summer months June thru September we hover around 95-100. I use it, makes a noticeable difference in the AC. Use the padded one from vette candy, comes in 1 or 2 piece. I use the one piece as I could never see why I would want one side uncovered. No heat soak at all.

Get the one with the suction cups it works! Check all the Vendors and wait for a sale or discount coupon.

Once you have a transparent roof, its hard to go back to a regular one, imo. It feels more open and I had the same issue you did when I bought, it only came with a transparent one and I live in AZ so was worried it would be too hot. I bought a liner from RPIdesigns and it works great, I leave it off unless I am parking in the summer sun or driving a long distance in it. Don't get the cheap one, get the one that is about $150.

Got the one with suction cups. It seems to work well in Florida. I am mainly concerned with the effects of heat on the interior of the car. It is still pretty hot after sitting in the Florida sun all day.

Default Corvette Heat

I have a transparent top but there are other huge areas of glass. I just had all my windows covered with Nano tint by 3M, which will block 95%. It is available in clear as well as shades of tint

Which is the cheap one?
I ordered one September 9th 2015 from RPI and still haven't received it. They keep telling me that it's delayed. I think it was $100. I don't mind waiting because it's winter but should I change to the one that's $150?

Based upon my years living in Rochester, you don't have to worry about the sun

I have to chime in here on this. I researched this on the forum a few weeks ago and after accessing all the responses I got, I found it not necessary to purchase a cover.

I think it's a matter of personal preference..... depends what part of the country you live in, how thinning the hair is on the top of your head, how tolerant you are to excessive heat, etc......

I've used the dot matrix (inexpensive one) here in the mid atlantic on two previous C6's and was just reminded to order something for this new, pending C7 that was built YESTERDAY. I should take delivery in the next couple weeks

This is the good one:
http://www.southerncarparts.com/corv...er-p-6338.html

This is the cheap one:
http://www.zip-corvette.com/14-16-bl...er-insert.html

Then of course there's the dot-matrix style referenced above which is more of a tint kind of application versus an actual headliner.

I agree with above comments... get the "good" one... it's worth the extra $50.
I have it.. use it for a serveral hundred mile commute I do once every few weeks.

The boys in Texas said they don't feel the heat coming through the tint of the roof. They are a pretty good test I imagine. Maybe their heads are numb though. Just kidding.

Is this the dot matrix one? Can you still see thru it once installed?

I have used the dot matrix on three different Vettes and currently have it on our C5 and C7. Does all I want it to and have been in temps of 104 plus.

Is this product something that you could leave on all the time? The description below says that it does not affect the transparency of the clear top.

Protect your C7 Corvette's interior from direct sun with a roof panel shade. Die-cut matrix film adheres to the inside glass top or roof panel to reduce glare, heat and UV radiation - keeps you cool and your interior looking its best. Does not affect the panel's exterior appearance or see-through capability.
Simple static cling application requires no modifications to top.

Fits all C7 Coupe Corvettes with clear top.

Sometimes I wonder if I would want to try trading with someone for a transparent roof.
