Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ will be run-flats
#61
Surely look like run flats by the description. Thanks for the information as I can't wait to wear out the tread on my OEMs so I can order these! :-)

When they came out in March with the AS 3+ , many, including myself thought they were the new Run Flat version.
But they are just the Improved version of the AS 3.
The New AS 3+ Run Flats are now available for order !
If you look on Tire Rack you'll see the Original version AS 3 and, the 2nd version AS 3+ are are Non run flats.
They are both "approximately" $300.00 cheaper than the new AS 3+ Run Flat version.
It's the normal difference in price, on the "average", between Run Flats and Non run flats.
They will be my next tire when I need new tires

Listen to Lee Willard (Michelin Tire Engineer) presentation. He made it perfectly clear that Pilot Sport AS tires for the C7 were not run flats and that there was no project to develop a run flat C7 tire!
Review the presentation yourself!
And that was back in 2013 - almost 4 years ago!

I called Michelin a few months ago and didn't take "I have no verification" for an answer from five different customer service reps and finally got thru to the administrative assistant to the head of Michelin's US operation. She said she would get me a specific answer. Within a week ( Aug 29th) I got an email directly from Michelin giving me the parts number for the Z51 A/S ZP (run flats) tires coming out in late October and available at dealers in early to mid Nov. I emailed Michelin back to confirm information I received was correct and they confirmed it. I called my Chevy dealer who in turn called their tire supplier (largest tire wholesaler on East Coast) and confirmed that they expected delivery of Z51 A/S ZP tires from Michelin in late Oct to early Nov. If you want a copy of Michelin's email to me send me your email and I'll forward it to all who respond.

Perhaps, it was true 3-1/2 years ago that Michelin had no plans to develop a Pilot Sport AS ZP. Plans change, and it's been verified multiple times that it will be available within weeks.
Tire Rack is accepting orders for it, and I doubt they'd be careless enough to take folks money, only to have to refund it.

WTF are you talking about?
Show me ONE Michelin A/S 3+ ZP tire - not Tire Rack's marketing that BTW are not even using the correct name - but show a picture of the A/S 3's I have been running for almost 3 years!
I wish I were wrong (I would be in line already for them) but it's just not happening!
Show me the proof!

Please explain to me why a company would be taking orders for a product they will not receive. I've been doing business with them for 2 decades. Obviously, if you pay by credit card, and they don't send you runflats after offering them, you won't be paying a cent, and they'd be returned at Tire Rack's expense.
Next questions, do you believe the U.S. actually landed on the Moon? Who really shot JFK? And, why were alien beings from other planets kept hidden at Area 51?

You : Does Michelin have the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Run flats for a 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray Z51?
15:30
Suzanne : Hello, I will be happy to assist. While I'm researching that for you, would you mind sharing your name, and email address with us? This is entirely optional.
15:33
I see the ZP version in our website. I will confirm availability now.

You : XXXXXX XXXXXX; XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
15:35
Suzanne : We have the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 245/35ZR19 ZP available. Now I will check the rear tire size.
15:39
Robert, I also see the rear tire 285/30ZR20 Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 285/30ZR20 ZP. However, these tires haven't been launched yet. They should be available by mid-November.
15:42
You : Suzanne - Thanks! I have an additional question. Sorry if this seems as if I am questioning your professional knowledge but that is not what I am doing at all. There seems to be a running controversy within the corvette C7 ranks about the validity of these particular tires. That is whether they are really & truly "run flats. Can you elaborate?
15:43
Suzanne : That is an interesting question. I am looking into it right now. Did that controversy come up on a particular tire already on the market or about this new one that is about to be launched?
15:45
You : The new ones that are being listed as Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ Run flats.
15:46
Suzanne : Ok. We haven't heard about any changes in the ZP technology specifically for this tire, but I would like to send your request to our tire engineers if you don't mind. I'm sure they'll be able to clarify this controversy.
15:47
You : Perfect. Thank you!!!
15:48
Suzanne : You're welcome! I will send them an email in a few minutes and once they respond I will email you with the answer.

Well, I for one, stand corrected. I am glad to see the all seasons are available and are runflats. Especially at the price point.

I've been buying tires and wheels from TireRack for the last 16 years and have been totally satisfied with their prices and services.
