LOL! I've heard that a lint roller on hand is a good thing for this exact reason.

I have had a vert my whole life. Get a real sponge (natural) they are real soft, do not leave residue like cheap sponges. Use mild soap and rinse throughly. Do not rub top to dry but pat dry with good clean chamois. Dry in sun if possible. When in garage cover top with clean white sheet to keep dust off. My C-7 is now 2 years old and top is like new.
