Best of luck on the repairs! Mine started acting up around the 10k mile mark too... I'm ready to get it back.

Sorry for all the bad experiences. Mine was 180 away from bad. Victory Lane Chevrolet was great, only been a few months, but car runs strong. When Converter went, didn't think I could still feel the love, but I was wrong! Once you get it behind you! My experience! \ https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ding-c7-s.html

It's my own fault. I broke my own rule of never buying the first year of anything.

The service bulletin 16-NA-014 for the transmission issue is attached if anyone is interested...
Sorry to give you bad news, but replacing the TC won't necessarily fix that. Had mine changed and it still behaves the same way your does. My TC did need to get replaced because it completely failed, but the trans was behaving this way before and after the TC replacement.

The harsh shifting is a symptom of a bad torque converter. That being said, the harsh shifting from park to drive appears not to be related to the bad TC in the A8. The transmission shifting from park to reverse (easy shift) but not going into gear for several seconds is a symptom of a bad T/C in the A8.

I forgot to mention that the car just sits there for 2-3 seconds, starts creeping forward for about a half second, and then shifts harshly into Drive.... Anyway, the dealer says they are currently waiting on my new TC to arrive. They think that will solve the problem based on the symptoms.

I've got the problem (delayed and/or harsh engagement) with P->R, P->D, and R->D, all only when cold. Had this before TC replacement and after.

I had the delayed engagement between Park and Reverse when cold but I didn't have the harsh engagement. Since my new TC, I have had no problems with delayed engagement. The transmission has operated flawless.

Took my 2015 A8 (has 10K miles) in Monday for oil change and airbag recall. He asked how it was driving and i said i felt a subtle shudder occasionally while driving but it wasn't all the time and I doubt a tech would notice it since its so subtle. Got a call later Monday and was told they were putting in a new torque converter. They just called and said its done so will pick it up tomorrow and see how it drives.

My A8 has been pretty good but my friend has been complaining about his since he picked up his 15 GMC pickup with the A8. He kept saying he felt like he was getting reare ended. He was making a 3 point turn on a dock yesterday and said it lunged.

Warranty statistics are a closely guarded secret and the cost to repair these problems will never be known outside of GM. There are countless Forum Members that have perfect cars and than there are others with less than perfect ones and than the rest put up with the problems and say nothing. GM knows where the problems are, they have the statistics, this puts the load on the field techs who probably can't keep up with the volume of calls.

WoW that's one dangerous transmission! I'm sure you will see a big class action suit if stuff like this keeps happening.

I knew it was only a matter of time until something bad happened. Figured it would be a rear ender though.

Got mine back today, started out real good then I pulled into a gas stations and got the surge and slip. I had to drive it home ~ 130 miles from the dealer. The rest of the trip seamed OK. It does shift much better but........... there is some new stuff now. Hope it works out. I am sure the dealer will take care of it.

Default A8 repair

Guys clarify something for me. I remember early pictures of C7 totally torn apart including rear end to-repair transmission. Is torque converter replacement alone now a plug and play smaller job. Also there are reports of no improvement after replacement and other problems like stator etc. how do you know? 11K on my 15 Z51 and I'm certain my tranie is starting to act up.

I had my Transmission and TC replaced on my '16 Z.
I only have 1K miles since the replacement but its (almost) good so far !
Still takes a fed seconds for the TC to fill with fluid and begin to move the car after sitting over night.
The shift logic at low speeds ( 25 - 45 mph) seems a little indecisive. This even after the latest ECU program up date.
