Gorilla guard wheel locks #61631
I've seen several post about people using these. Every time I look at these they come up that they will not fit my 2016 Z51. Anyone have a problem with the fitment of these on a Z51? While I'm at it, how does the above locks compare with the 71631X. Thanks

I would refrain from using wheel locks at all....while this should never happen on a C7, but some service departments can over torque the **** out of the lug nuts and when you try to take off a lock nut and presto.. it strips... and then you are F%#kED.
Now if your do all your own wheel on and off work, and carefully use a Torque wrench... it's not that big a problem....you'll be fine...
I just find them more trouble than their worth... and any real PRO can remove them in seconds anyways. I ended up removing them altogether on one of my other cars... the dealer removed the stripped lock off in seconds... so that gives you an idea of the real difficulty.

I suspect that the reason the 61631 will not fit is because the rotating collar may be too large to fit into the wheel recess. Just a guess. I have the 71631X ones on my car and I like that design. I've seen a lot of posts with a "easy out" type socket that can remove most simple lock designs but I think the rotating end of the 71631X will stymie most thieves.
Anytime you have work done on your car that involves removing the wheels you should insist that the mechanic uses a torque wrench to tighten your lug nuts, lock or no lock.

The spinner concept is great...if they will fit. I use Amazon dot com: Upgr8 S-series 20 Pieces Steel Closed Ended Wheel Lug Nuts with Key (M12 X 1.25MM, Black): Automotive , I'm sure they can be beat but if I can make some thief's life a little more miserable by making him work harder at defeating all 20 lug nuts, then

As far as the lug nuts, I prefer McGard locks.

A professional car thief can get a locked lug nut off fairly easily. They have a tool that will grip around the lug so the key is not needed. I have a friend that owns a shop that has this tool as so many of his customers put wheel locks on and forget where they put the key.

And it isn't just the C7. I recently did the brakes on my GMC 2500HD pickup and Amazon showed the different OEM AC-Delco pads for the front and rear wheels would both fit the rear position but nothing would fit the front. They are convenient and low cost but for safety look up the parts elsewhere and go only by part number and not there pathetic parts fitment system when you get to Amazon.

McGard quality can't be beat. Made in the USA! Gorilla are made in Taiwan.
