Default 2015 Service Repair Manuals

For those of us that like to work on their own vehicles………does anyone know for sure when and if 2015 Service Repair Manuals will be available. I've done several forum searches on subject with no real conclusion. I read somewhere that the 2014 Manuals caught most of the updates for the 2015 but do not know for sure if that's true either. I went to Helms website and saw that they jacked up price of the 2014 Manuals by around $175………making them around $375! What's up with that?? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

The 2015 Helms service manuals were available a couple of months ago. They now show as available for back order. $300.

I ordered on 12/23 and others who ordered later got theirs right after New Years. I had forgotten about them until they called because they could not charge my CC (I had closed that account). I told them to forget it. I'll never do much more than really basic work on my car.

If your going to do serious work, I highly recommend the service manuals. Get them now as they raised them to 375 at one point for the folks with 14's. I think they were first 200 then shot up.

You can order the Helm manuals. Mine took about 6 weeks to arrive.

Last week the 2015's showed up as "available again on 2/28" and 2016's weren't showing up at all.

Tonight the 2015's are "available but backordered" and the 2016's are showing that they will be released by GM on 3/28/16

They are worth their weight in gold! Get'em before Helms jacks up the price of the '15 manuals when they see the demand. Mine were on back order too, and when I emailed them they did not know a ship date. They arrived a couple weeks later.

Only thing that seems to be lacking in them are the full electrical diagrams that the older generations manuals used to have. I see ground layout diagrams but that is it. Maybe they are buried in there somewhere. But all the electrical connectors are fully described

I agree that the factory service manuals are a valuable resource to have in your garage. It is amazing how the prices have jumped over the years though. Perhaps if they made them in an electronic version the price could be reduced.

but then there would be more counterfeit copies than real ones

At least GM/Helm have a shot at getting their $ if everyone needs their own paper copy.

Here's why the price went down to $300:

"This manual is a digital reprint of the original publication. It is possible that this item will be in loose-leaf format. Any wiring diagrams in the original shop/service manual are NOT reproduceable and are no longer available."

I noticed that too. 300 bucks for photocopies and information you can't read some of the wiring diagrams.

How does GM lose the original electronic documents?

Yup, I remember you could find Service Manuals for any Ford car on eBay. They came on CD and were replaced every month with an updated version. I also had the Service Manual for a 02 Z28 on disc.

Service data is available on line from GM. I believe the price was about 3600 per year. I think member Theta has a subscription.
