Z51's have changed over the years
It's funny, quite a few members have told about upgrading from a C5, a C6 etc. and they were all amazed with the C7 Vs the Corvette that they had before it.
I went from a 1984 Z/51, 4+3 to a 2015 Z/51, 7M Mag Ride and I have to agree ... the C7 was an amazing upgrade

That's quite a leap, from an early C4 to a C7. The jump from a C4 to a C5 is considerable based on the technology involved in developing the C5. Then to move two more generations up must be quite a change for you. Like your C7. IMHO, the Z51 C7 is awesome.

Sinister looking C7. Congrats on the new Vette. Looks fabulous.
Funny with the C4s, I really didn't like them when they were new, but over time, they've grown on me. I guess I've come to appreciate their clean lines. I've looked around at getting a ZR-1 or maybe a '96 CE to add and play around with just for fun.
But you'll love the C7, OP - they are a no-compromise sports car.

Congrats on the new car, huge jump indeed but fortunate that you have owned another vette before this.
I'm hoping the C7 ends up being my first vette.

Hey I loved my C4 which I had for more than 15 years. Nothing quite like the clam shell hood, the **** pit feel (although that came back with the C7), the Sport Seats option (although the C7 competition seats are even better), the flip up lights (ok, I'll be flamed for that one).
I don't miss some of the engineering mistakes like the Opti-spark, or the cross fire, or the squeaks and leaks.
Someday the very distant future nostalgia will cause the C4 value to go up for the survivors and we will wish we had them still. Every Corvette show I hope I spot my old C4.

I have a 71 C3 convertible and added a 2016 C7. My brother has a '65 327 convertible and a 98 C5.
Love my old chrome-car, but the upgrade to the C4 was really significant in its day... despite the cheap interiors and cheesy digital dash, the later C4s are actually a great buy right now...
Last year, a friend of mine just bought a low-mile original C4 ZR-1 for about $22K, and I think it's a steal.

BTW, as it looks like you went all black, I thought you might be interested in the $0.50 mod I did on mine.
5' of black electricians tape and an exacto-knife!

I know, I probably should do that quick, but reversible mod.
Even my calipers are black

Funny when I got my first Vette a Z51 '88, I had just been driving a Dodge Colt Turbo. It had a similar arrangement for gearing but two levers and you could get 8 gears. However two were the same ratio so it was "only" a 7 speed. I could keep the overdrive lever in first and for normal driving often did. For spirited driving would go thru the first 4 gears without overdrive then switch to overdrive and 2nd or 3rd then 4th. Not a lot of torque with that small cid turbo so needed all the gears.
With the Doug Nash box the plantery overdrive was only available in 2nd thru 4th, so only a 7 speed. It was fun trying different ratios bout hey we're all not needed.
Loved my '93 and 08 Z51's as well each one better than the last.
However the C7 with the 7 speed trans and rev match is a real step forward, IMO. Once you learn that after 4th you pick the overdrive gear that fits the situation and there is no need to row thru the gears. Downshifting from 7th on an interstate to 4th for the off ramp, for example, is the logical move and rev match makes it seamless! Same around town 5th to 3rd when turning and rev match provides a smooth transition.
