Have a great day. An F4 pilot saved my butt in 1968 (Tet Offensive).

I do believe that is the USS Carl Vinson. US Pacific Fleet based out of San Diego. Carrier Strike Group 1. "Do it right the first time."

That's the Yorktown, CV-10, a WW II carrier on display in Charleston, SC. Even says so on the pic.

yes, an area of the harbor called "Patriots Point"--with many exhibits including a submarine along with the Yorktown(#2) ---all just mothball/museum ships & aircraft, but open to the public to tour every day

I served on the Yorktown in the 60's. We flew S2's attached to VS-23.

Spent many years on various carriers. Best experience was when we loaded several WWII aircraft on the ship (CVN-70) in CA and then took them over and launched them off the carrier outside of Oahu for the 50th WWII celebration. We held raffles on the ship to win spots to fly off on the B-25's.

^^^ I was stationed on the Carl Vinson from '82-'86. That would have been amazing to witness.

I was on the Saratoga (CV-60) and Independence (CV-62) from 87-91. Our squadron was on the chucky V for the 94 West Pac, 95 Pineapple (WWII thing), and then 96 West Pac. I was a flight deck Corpsman while on carriers for the most part. I tried to upload a 10 minute vid but I cant get it to load properly. If you search "USS Carl Vinson WWII fly off" you will see a few vids.

Seems I remember the Yorktown was referred to as the "Fighting Lady"
She earned that during WWII. (?)
