Grand Sport Announcement Thread

GM probably did this on purpose. No way one of the presenters would slip up this bad. He even put the hash tags on the Instagram post. One can argue that British English is a bit different than American, but I don't think Oliver would misunderstand instructions to keep his pie hole shut.
Agree that it is curious they didn't release this in Detroit or Chicago, but makes perfect sense that they let it leak the day before. Needed something to strum up interest for an event 6 hours time difference from their home market. Just my 0.02.

I think GM is pushing for more sports car sales in Europe. You see they have Camaro pricing announced as part of the agenda as well, they'll probably be pushing both there.

Those who think this release was a "mistake" don't understand marketing in 2016.

This. It was very well planned and coordinated by GM. There was nothing about it that's a mistake. I won't be trading my '14 vert for one but it will be interesting to see what it is, and what it does to overall C7 sales.

Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified
Lets see if it looks like a Z06 with Z51 parts or is it its own unique style.

The C6 GS replaced the Z51 model in the C6. I think it's safe to believe the same thing will happen with the C7. No one is going to pay $10K more than a Z51 to get wider fenders, wheels and tires. It must include the Z51 goodies. You could be right tho, for what you get with the Z51, the addition of wider fender and wheels should increase the price further.

Yesterday I was walking around in Spring Lake, NJ with my GF. I saw a C7Z Blade Silver. Beautiful! I said to her "......only if GM would reintroduce the GS in C7 trim". This is a game changer. IMO, even bigger than the Z06 which we knew was coming. GM. MSRP "stripped" 65K.

I think the info was a plant and GM knew someone would spot it and blast it all over all the Corvette Forums. WELL DONE GM!!!
The only thing that makes no sense is we're just a few weeks away from the Birthday Bash and it seems Chevy has thrown the faithful the bird.

For me the GS is the perfect combination of the C7 and the C7Zo6. I love the look of the wide bodied Vettes, but don't want or need the performance that the ZO6 has. The C7 engine is more than enough for me...
The GS hold their value pretty well also. I guess those C6 GSs will be hitting the market by those wanting the new GS. I guess when that happens the C6 GS will be more affordable as now they are still pretty pricey considering their age VS other C6 Vettes.. Just a thought.

I love going to the NCM and the Bash, but for a big reveal like this, it makes sense to do it at a large international autoshow. At the Bash you'll have a few hundred interested Corvette fans, but at the Geneva autoshow (or any other large international show for that matter) you'll have thousands of journalists, bloggers, camera crews,... there is just so much more exposure doing it this way
