Can't wait to see it at the Bash.

They do, but the cost is greater for DCT's that handle higher TQ. A8 was a no brainer at our expense. A good TC auto that could be shared across the lineup with the likes of a Silverado.

No way would the Vette get a standalone tranny.

I'll admit that I can't tell the difference between a Z51 Stingray and Z06 without looking for the extra scoops. The "wide body" kit on the C7, is not as apparent as it was on the C6.

Not a personal attack, just presenting an alternate perspective...

In my opinion, there is a huuuuge difference in appearance with the wide-body C7 compared to even the Z51 Stingray. I certainly understand that some prefer the narrow body, but the differences are substantial.

The flared fenders and larger rear end give a more muscular look and make the car appear more planted, hunkered down.

I became enamored with the C6 GS and have been focused on the C7 Z06 because for me the wide body is a must have. Glad I will have some options for my upcoming 2017.

That should have been GM`s response. Its to costly, not impossible.

I will start buying GM autos when they get rid of the torque converters.

besides the wide tires, the Z06 isn't a HUGE difference. Most people on the road won't be able to tell either.

You're kidding, right...Anyone who has a set of eye's can tell the difference in the two models IMO...

you over estimate people.

Its hard for people like yourself to understand non car people. So i will give you a break on that.

I remember when my mom sent me a picture of this BMW M6 in a parking lot. Wanted to show me a "M3" she saw.

yup true story

Mike's right.

Most non car people couldn't differentiate one Ferarri from another across the whole lineup.

I point out base Vettes and Z06's every week to my wife, and she still can't tell the difference. She says "is that the wide one?"

If they make it Zo6 body but with a 500-520 HP N/A motor it will be a big seller.

I have to agree with this. It's why we bought our 2007 Z06 new back then for my wife over a base car. C7 not so much.

When I had XPEL put on the carbon skirts and splitter last week on my wife's Z51 the guy doing the work was telling another customer that when they were done with the red Z06 his car was next.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I don't believe that to be the case. I'm sure your recollection of the DCT statement is also true, but I remember a video of him answering questions very shortly after the 2014 Stingray was announced. He was asked why a 6spd and not 8. His answer was that they had not been able to source a 8 that would fit AND he went on as to how 6 was plenty and it did not make sense to force a car design to accommodate an 8 unless they could make a compelling case that the 2 additional gears were indeed a performance gain. He spoke of how when C6 had a 4 speed auto and customers wanted 6 because other cars had 6. He said it was quite challenging to make the 6 a performance gain over the 4 but they did get marginal gains after much effort. He stressed how unlikely it was that an 8spd would be a gain over 6spd.
Ofcourse i don't fault Tadge for this. TJ has to sell his car and if you divulge that next year will be configured with an upgraded trans then you just killed this year's sales. There is always something better around the corner and he can't give those secrets up or his customers would always be holding on to their money just one more year.

Okay.
No, but you're going to see it on social media before you get any kind of press release.
