I think this car is going to answer a lot of people's prayers. If I were in the market for a new Corvette, it would absolutely be this car. The ZO6 looks, brakes and suspension with the NA 6.2L and none of the crappy heating BS of the ZO6 model. Even if I could afford a ZO6, I'd get this instead.

As was noted in another of the 20 other threads, there seems to be a lot of insecurity and need for self-affirmation by some people on this board.

The more variety, the better it is for everyone. Personally, this is the C7 I have been waiting for.

If you are worried about residual/trade-in value, you've got bigger problems than a new model Corvette being introduced.

The Z06 is still the top dog so what's the real problem here?

One thing that can be said about this forum is that there is no shortage of short-sighted people who think their personal taste is the only possible option. Be it the ridiculous chrome vs. black wheel debates, or the moronic comments about transmission choices.

I swear I can close my eyes and envision some old man sitting in shorts and a wife beater undershirt, complete with white socks and sandals, surfing the net while screaming at little kids to get off their lawns!

Personally, I like all the choices, be it models and options. These are "the good old days"!

I wonder if they updated the LT1 in the 2017 GS (or vette period) to have the integrated catch can like the Camaro does?

If not another big negative.

I don't think the front fenders are from the Z06...anyone else?

Comparing this to a Porsche 911, the Z06 is like a 911 TT the GS a GT3. Different strokes...

I was soooo hoping for a 500+hp motor. Guess I'll keep the ole C6 beater.

When I price out a moderate z06, I'm in over $100,000. There's a big gap there between a moderately loaded stingray at 75 grand and a moderately loaded z06 at about 105 grand.

Money is on 90 grand with options, with special trim available that takes it up to 100.

And dude - did you see that blue interior!? That ain't coming cheap.
$100k would be tough, but doable.. My 3LT Z51 which is nearly loaded is $83k (MSRP), and I'd expect the GS to be that + the Aero Kit ($7k if I remember right) and whatever "GS Premium" you will have to pay (say $5k). So that's $95k right there.

The amount of bitching is outright comical. Those with a C6 GS and bitching are simply ridiculous and those who continue to call this a Z06 wannabe are utterly and flat out dumb. Yes all of you calling this a wannabe are dumb. I'm seriously hoping not a single one of you have Z06 style skirts or front lip or rear spoiler because here's a news flash, by your own argument, you're a "wannabe" prancing around in a fake Z06. Better yet I bet some of even orered these parts from GM which makes it even worse because those parts were specifically made for the Z06. So congrats on your ridiculousness.

You have an inability to understand what the original GS was or ignore it all together. Even if there was a small bump in HP you same dummies would still be bitching and for what? The end argument would always default to, "for a couple thousand more you can just get a 'real' Z06." Seriously? that's your argument given you have ZERO information that a "real" Z06 will only be a couple thousand more?

Some people really don't care for the highest HP car available and most are still upset the Z06 came supercharged. Add to that its near crippling heat issues and you now have a track car that can't track. What's surprising is these same people were blown away by the ZR1's performance and yet somehow glazed over the the fact the C7 GS is only .6sec (not sure exact figure but it's under a couple seconds) or something slower than the ZR1 around their test track. If that's not enough performance for you then you're clearly delusional, especially considering the ZR1 was the fastest Corvette made at one point.

Lastly those whining about the blue hash marks, blue interior and head rest should learn to read. According to the press release the hash marks are part of the Heritage package while the blue interior with C2 on the headrest is the Collector Edition. So that means for those of you who don't like any of it can get a clean no "rice" (really?) edition Grand Sport.

And it may be superior on shorter, tighter tracks to the Z06, which won't as easily be able to use it's power, and has less opportunity for cooling than it does on bigger/longer tracks.

For folks who don't track, there are a large swath who simply prefer the more masculine look of the Z/GS, and they'll buy it for that.

Either way, GM will make a nice profit. And Corvette buyers will have more choices, which to most people, is a good thing.

Get the one that flips your skirt and matches how you'll use it, and rock on.

This will be a great car to fit with an NA LSX 502 700+ HP engine.

Are your simply trolling just to troll? Get out of here with that bs Lexus reference! Clearly you missed the part the GS is only a few seconds if not less than the ZR1 around their test track. At one point people were freaking out about the performance of the ZR1 and rightfully so because it was the fastest Corvette made and now suddenly a few seconds slower is "missing the mark" and compared to bloated luxo 4drs?

Go home yer drunk!

I'm there with you....I will wait on the new paint shop. I've had enough orange peel for a lifetime. I've always kicked myself for not buying a '96 GS with Red Interior...now I will have my opportunity!!!!

The blue interior is an option so you don't have to get it. They may have an option for twilight blue, but who knows.

With the Z06 track goodies, will the GS outperform a Z51 on the track? If not, what's the point?

The more the merrier. I'd much prefer that Corvette sells well, regardless of how many iterations there are, so that more and better versions are developed. We don't want the Corvette to suffer the fate of the Viper, whose owners adamantly demand exclusivity and rarity, lol.
