why not offer a a/s tire for us that live where it gets cold and not have to worry about cracking tires like the Z/51 .

The Grand Sport is about improved performance and being on the track and all that, not running all seasons....

I agree with 1955nomad on the tires. Not very many people who buy Corvettes track them.

How many do you think track them ? I like to drive mine like many others do. My other toy is a COPO Camaro that has no way from GM to put plates on it.

When has the Z51 had tire cracking issues?

Since Michelin started supplying the tires for the Z51 and Z06

Guess it doesn't get cold enough in michigan to be an issue. The Z07 does. After our crazy cold winter in 14-15, those were the only tires that I noticed having issues.

Anyone have an idea as to how the new Watkins Gray compares to the current Shark Gray?

They don't look too different, but maybe a C7 SG owner might know?

I'm not a C7 SG owner, but the Watkins Glenn Gray looks darker than SG, to my eye at least, and only based on the photos I've seen. It looks closer to Cyber Gray than to Shark Gray. I have seen CG and SG in person, and they're noticeably different, with the SG being much lighter than CG.

SG also appears to have brown in it giving it a bronze tone.

I'll try to quickly scan through this thread for some info, but I don't suppose there's been any kind of "leaks" or hints at the Grand Sport pricing? I'm guessing it will start at about $6-7K more than the Stingray, but who knows.

I'm trying to decide between a Grand Sport and a Cayman GT4... but it's slightly harder to do that without pricing info on the GS, heh.

do you have a gaurenteed allocation?
If not I think your decision is already made.

Is it just me or do the GS wheels look just like the old cup racing wheels from the C6?

They are (but in gloss). Have them on my ZR1 in matte black.

Maybe they had a bunch left over, as well as a bunch of Cyber Grey (now called Watkins Glen Grey) paint

Based on (rather conflicting) statements made by Tadge Juechter and Harlan Charles, GS pricing is supposed to start somewhere between $63K and $70K.

I do, for a June/July build, which means I'll have to finalize my order within about a month or so. I'd like to make my decision before then so I don't rob another potential GT4 buyer of a chance to spec their own car.

Interesting, thanks. Pretty wide range, heh. Guess it will vary based on what it comes standard with... It is interesting that it's apparently coming standard with the magnetic shocks. Even the Z06 doesn't come with those standard.

The Z06 does come with Magnetic Ride as standard on base 1LZ:

Ah, coulda sworn that was part of the Z07 package or something. My mistake.
