Grand Sport Announcement Thread

I can only speak to the CURRENT Z06 discounts and they are between 7 and 10 thousand off MSRP.
The 2017's will be different as the Z06 will probably get the 10-speed automatic and that might change the discounts. We'll just have to wait and see.
But I don't expect to see any discounts on the GS early on.

Honestly even if the Z06 was only $5K more, I'd still go for the GS personally... Z power is completely unusable on the street, and barely even usable on a road course, especially when you take into account the overheating issues.

The Grand Sport to me is all of the good parts of the Z06 with none of the excess. I don't need 650 hp, but I could use a better chassis, tires, and more heat-resistant brakes.

That's why I put a fully refundable deposit down on March 1st even though I didn't know much about it. Hope it all works out. Can't wait for the Bash.

Brake Rotor Size
Everyone keeps saying that the Grand Sport will have the same brakes as the Z06 but I keep finding a discrepancy between published specs of the brake rotor sizes.
Z06 (base/nonZ07) 14.6"/14.4"
Z51 13.6"/13.3"
GS 14"/13.4"
These specs were found on GM's own website when it was featured on the front page and also now shown in the link below. If these specs are true, that would mean that a unique set of brake rotors were created just for the GS that are sized between the Z51 and base Z06 since they don't exist on any other C7, which doesn't make much sense to me since it costs more money to create a new part rather than just use the base Z06 parts like they have in the past with the C6.

I just want to say that I am happy GM is offering the full buffet for MY2017. People really will be able to order the car just the way they want it. Base, w/Z51 package, GS, w/Z07 package, Z06, w/Z07 package.
I think it's smart of GM to release MY2017 like this. Everyone gets to pick what ever options they like and GM gets raw data to make the smartest decisions for MY2018 and beyond. The most popular options will stay and lesser one will go.
As for pricing I think everyone can agree that since the introduction of the C7, GM has shocked people with there reasonable starting prices. I don't think the GS will be any different. MY2017 will have a great starting price and those who buy now will look back in 2-3 years smiling about the great deal they received by being first to the party.
$67k-$69k is my guess as to the starting price. Don't worry they will get us with mid-year and year over year price raises.

That is either bad or outdated information. Chevy's official Corvette Grand Sport splash page very clearly states that the Grand Sport comes with the 14.6/14.4 brakes standard, and with the 15.5/15.3 carbon ceramics optional:
http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-grand-sport.html
http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-grand-sport.html
http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...-and-info-news
"The GS’s brakes are in-betweeners, with 14-inch front rotors and 13.4-inch rears being larger than the Corvette Stingray’s (even those on the optional Z51 performance package) but smaller than those on the Z06."
These figures were also shown on GM's own page but I guess they finally fixed it. Thanks again for the updated link!

Given most of us believe the starting price will be around 68+, They are not going to sell many without a starting discount, as the Z06 on a forum dealer's page can be had for slightly under 74 now. An extra 6K or so is nothing.

Also, remember that you cannot get a Z06 for a couple months at least in the new model year, so that will move a few buyers to the GS at least initially keeping demand high for the GS.
I'd be happy if there were equal discounts on the GS and Z51, but I don't think that will happen.

Le Mans Master
This is finally my C7. I'd been back and forth and frankly just never really got to a definite yes on the Z06. I strongly didn't want the supercharger. I wanted something I could build on, so I began reverting back to getting a Z51 and doing a widebody...then poof...out comes Grand Sport. So...1 year from now, I'll be ordering mine.

Thanks! Every major publication was posting the same 14/13.4 figures for a while, including Car and Driver:

You're assuming that the Z06 price will stay at the same price or not have significant improvements/changes itself.

Right now, I'm trying to focus on what will happen with the Z51 (since a 3LT Z51 is what I want to order). Focus, such a difficult thing to have when you're refreshing the page hoping for news and leaks a 100 times a day

Ideally, I would like to wait for a 2018 GS, to enjoy the advantages of the new auto gearbox and possible HP bump. However, I've been waiting a year, first planning on the Z06. It's time. I'll just have to deal with the 8 speed auto and 460HP. Two more months to go...

I just ordered a '16 Z51. I'll most likely give it a couple of years then probably take it to Callaway for my hp fix. Maybe even a bit more exclusive than a GS...? Idk...

When can we order
#1278
Orders open up well before the cars show up in showrooms. The first order cycle is around the last week of May for a 2017 (GS, base, Z51 etc.). Dealerships might take orders sooner of course and you might be ordering price-blind (especially going by previous years).

I know there was some talk about the rocker extensions. According to the official order guide, "Standard molded rocker extensions on Grand Sport models"
#1280
Standard molded rocker extensions - ($800 Part + $150 Install)
Z06 grill - ($550 Part + Install)
Stage 1 front splitter - ($100 + $100 install)
MSRC - ($1800 Part)
Effectively $3500 that comes "standard" on the car. Remember to take that amount off when considering the "final" cost of he car in comparison to a Z51. This means if we're estimating "$8000 more than z51" on paper, it is only actually $4500 more in actual application. That $4500 is probably closer to $4000 after discounts if you base it on % off..... assuming both cars are sold at 9% off MSRP
