Was going to buy a C7, but, the GS fixed the 'problems' with the current Z51

Try to remember when the Stingray and Z06 pricing was announced. People were rather surprised at how low it was considering what you were getting. So with that in mind I don't think GM would somehow gouge the GS and alienate future customers. Now going crazy with options is another story as you can easily take a Stingray up to basic stripper Z car pricing.

I looked up the 2010 release of the GS and it was around 5K more than the base C6. I think it's going to start in the low to mid 60s.
I also wouldn't be surprised if they move the HUD to the 1LT group when purchasing the GS, similar to how it is the 1LZ option for the Z.
The last 24 hours have been a curve ball for Corvette fans.

A z51 will pretty much cost what a GS cost if this is true.

Good luck finding one for MSRP when they do come out with the GS. Some may sell it at sticker, but others will jump on the market adjustment bandwagon.

That's the thing, all these people bitching about the GS are clueless. They either missed or are willfully ignoring the fact this is literally a Z06 with a different motor. Why? Because it doesn't have a bump in horsepower.
Yet these same people bitching that it "missed the mark," or "isn't enough" were the same people who were thinking the ZR1 was amazing because it was the fastest Corvette made to date. The GS according to Tadge is less than a second slower than the ZR1 around the test track, so please explain to me how a second slower than the fastest previous gen Corvette is somehow not enough?

I havent seen the prices for the new GS, but the Z07 equipped versions should get the attention of the 1% who actually do track their cars.

Look at Porsche... they are the masters at parts-bin engineering.
Basic Carrera... Carrera S... GTS... Turbo... Turbo S... GT3... GT3 RS.
Total production is about 6K cars a year, and they have twice as many models... its how its done.

Most people on here dont track, like the above poster, they drive their Corvettes to work and back, or to the coffee shop. To them, a lot of the purchase was their ability to brag about how fast their car is, since they never tap its ability other than the occasional gas pedal stomp to get a grin. In the case of the GS, it was always considered an unworthy car since it provided no additional bragging ability, even though at 5k, it was a huge upgrade for track drivers. To them, being 1 second slower than a previous generation Vette, is a big insult. How are they supposed to brag to their co-workers and people at the coffee shop that its slower than a 2010 ZR1?

Regardless, we'll have to wait for the independent tests, but I am very excited about this car. The real issue for me is the also-recently-announced '17 Camaro SS 1LE. Same engine, square tires (which makes it very easy to switch to even wider tires), more useful interior, and the weight gap is also much less than it used to be (3650 lbs ??), and all that for probably around $40K; it will be hard to pass.

I have to admit, I don't care for the Z51 wheels, I don't care for the 'heating issues'. So now there's a newer model that will come out that has those issues fixed. So why would I buy a Z51 now? It's resale is just going to drop once the GS comes out.
I was really hoping for fixes to the current C7s heat issue

I really like the GS. However I really wish it would have had a Normally Aspirated 525HP motor. That would have really made it special. Would have liked the Z06 tail lights also.

Seriously. If anyone wants chrome Z51's, I want black Z51's or the new GS ones are SPECTACULAR!

I have a Z51 and there will be no crying. Just driving excitement. I will never track, race, or come close to the potential of the C7. I had a 2007 Z06 and I never came close with that one either.
I think of my car as a really nice Chevy convertible with great power. Anything more than that, I don't need. when the C6 GS came out, it was the Z06 owners who were mad because now, somebody could get a Z look alike for a lower price. There will always be buyers for used C7 base and Z51. For the serious track guys, I think you have more choices and this is a healthy argument. Interesting for me but no bad feeling about a new model coming out. It shows the brand is alive which is great for all.

I will purchase a new GS if GM get's the pricing right. For my needs & wants this is the sweet spot for the C7. Problem is if it's only 8-10K cheaper than a base Z06 I'll go with the Z! Beefed up driveline, fuel system and fully forged motor are worth the 10K and of course the blower.
