New Cray Spider wheels rubbing rear fender, need help, getting desperate
after a long waite i finnally got the new custom wheels for my c7 corvette,
specs are
20x11 rears with a 305-30-20 rear tire
20x9.5 fronts with 275-30-20 front tire
tires are the new nitto 888 g2s brand new to the market
car is lowered on factory bolts, "minor lowering"
going into this i was expecting to have some issues or a tight fight for the fronts since not many people do a 20x20 set up and running a wide 275 front tire, it actually fits with ease
the rears are a pretty standar size nothing to extreme the rims are made specificly for the corvette no hub rings needed or aftermarket bolts direct fit and direct offsets,
the probelm i have is the passanger side tire is rubbing the inside fender lip,
i double check all the tire widths and rim sizes and off sets everything measure up exact,
my first idea or option was to put some negative camber in the rear just enough for it to clear, 1.25 is what the alignment shop did, drove out of the shop and the car felt it was driving on ice almost wrecked leaving the stop light , that wasnt going to work, so i brought it back and set it back to factory specs, drives perfect again.
next i took a metal file and tried to shave some of the inner fiberglass fender out but its not working either, i need to take a lot out a good 1/4 inch or so ,
can some explain why only the passanger side has issues and not the drivers side, the driver side clears with ease !!
the only concolusion is durring the build of the car some one messed up ?
im really at a loss ? any help would be great, i cannot return the tires now or the rims

I don't have a clue, but I would find another C7 and measure your car and the other car to see if the width in the wheel wells are the same or if your's is different. If different find another C7 and do the same thing.
This could be a fitment issue or some thing built in by the factory to allow for parts fitment on the frame, or something like that.
Check with a good body shop and have the car checked to see if it's square or maybe you could check with customer service and get an answer.
Good luck on finding a cause and a solution.

i think im going to swap the wheels tonight, even though there direction just to drive a few miles and see if it does the same thing, maybe it will tell me if its the wheel or the car if it does the same thing,
my buddie has the exact same car also maybe i can askhim to try them also and see if they rub on the passanger side of his also,
im really out of ideas on this,

I would make sure you tell your friend that you only want to jack up his and see if they touch while rotating them in his driveway by hand...... Also, can't you just adjust the lowering bolts until they don't rub? Finally, what was your original goal in changing out the sizes?

felk, i have raised the car to almost stock height now,
it helps a little but any big bumps or dips in the road it rubs,
mine was the base model with the 18/19 set up, wanted it to look better, and also better tracton the stock RFT 285 tires was horible at track events,
these are also lighter then the factory wheels,

Tire/wheel assembly extends +1" further outward than stock + larger 27.24" diameter...perfect recipe for rubbing!
Run a straight edge on your tires from floor to fender lip & measure the gap.
You'll find a larger gap on the > RIGHT.

Rear frame assembly isn't centered.
If you're mechanically confident, loosen the bolts to correct it or locate a competent dealer tech.
Likely within factory tolerance for stock wheels/tires, so don't expect a freebee.
Even then, ya still might rub with that combo...lesson learned.

It can easily be done with a hammer & 2x4...there's allowance for adjustment.
Why not take it to your dealer & explain the issue?
I'd advise against the dremel.

Those pictures indeed show what was discussed above, you rear sub frame isn't centered on the body. I recall some issues with that some C6 as well. It is all fine and within tolerance for the stock wheel set-up, but if you start pushing it to the limit you might have issues. If you're not comfortable tackling this yourself I would suggest taking the car to the dealer or any other decent shop and they should be able to loosen the subframe and center it.

It SHOULD be...but many jerk dealers out there....and will blame your wheels.....I had two sets of TSW wheels, your size, and no rub.
