Is the red/black/white/yellow harness part of the cars wiring ? It looks like it's coming from a wire loom. Also, the small black plug on the drivers side, is that part of the Navtool unit?

The long connection 4 wire bundle is from Navtool. You need to fish that long wire from the driver's side to the passenger foot well. The small black connector is on one end of that 4 wire bundle and it connects near the BCM area. You connect the black connector to the middle of the the 20 wire green bundle to it's black connector.

This picture shows the connection to the 20 wire green bundle.

Great JOB!!! I'll give it sometime and just might order one if NavTool can keep up with demand.

Elmer, don't know if anyone answered your question about mounting in an M7 yet. Installed mine today, there is a space under the clutch pedal and right next to the footrest were it can be mounted. It does not interfere with clutch even under full travel. I routed my wires like you did and zip tied them to factory cable bundles for support. Picture below for those with M7 and wondering what it looks like.

How is it secured? I have an M7 and should be receiving mine on Monday and want to get everything set on the install.

I would want to ensure no heat can get to it and that I can't accidentally mash it with my foot.

You can't get to that space unless your knee bends backwards from normal.

Secured with two pieces of 3m VBH mounting tape on the ends. The carpet is good at holding it in place too. There is a little ledge that it rests on, so its secure. Even with the clutch fully depressed the pedal is still a couple inches away from the carpet. You can play around with the positions when you install, i did for about 30 minutes before choosing this.

I'm double-jointed, Elmer, so it's a possibility.

To touch that space you'll need to repair the ACL and the MCL fer sure.

I ran the wire from the Navtool over to the back of the console, then I removed the top left trim piece. I then pushed the wire up and out of sight bringing it out through a hole I cut in the console. I used a razor knife to cut the plastic (slow but accurate) for the HDMI plug to get into the console.

This is the top trim piece I removed and a picture of where I brought the plug and cord into the console.

I'll also add the pictures to the end of post #1.

Elmer,

In your post you say you bought this:

Amazon.com: AmazonBasics Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to HDMI Adapter for Apple iMac and MacBook (L51G): Computers & Accessories Amazon.com: AmazonBasics Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to HDMI Adapter for Apple iMac and MacBook (L51G): Computers & Accessories

But that IS NOT what is in the above picture....You have this I believe.

Default Need Install Help

Elmer,
I am in the process of installing my NavTool and have several problems. I ran a coat hanger behind the console and the wires with the connector are too big to pull through. I have not been able to maneuver it from the driver side to the passenger side. Do you think it would be a problem if I cut off the end terminal and and soldered the wires back together after I pulled the four wires behind the console?

Also, I have a 2015 Z06. Apparently the BCM is connected differently. I've attached a picture. When you unfasten the 3-10 mm fasteners and turn the plate sideways a module is connected to the plate. I don't know whether this is the BCM or the radio receiver. What should I be looking for?

Thanks,
Norm

Look for the white 20 pin plug. I saw NOTHING like that on the BCM.

As far as fishing it through, I wrapped a lot of tape to smooth the shoulders of the plug so it wouldn't catch on anything. It will go through, you just need to find the right groove.
