Warble sound occasionally

Interesting..... Anyone find it strange that it may be apparent on the RPM double? Seems like some kind of harmonic resonance if that is the case.....

Harmonic resonance is exactly what I've been professing since April last year.... The lead noise and vibration Engineer who was sent to collect data on our old car, agreed.

I assume the harmonic resonance is caused by the interaction of the bad ring and pinion in the diff?

that's my guess...... it's a noise / vibration that is getting amplified through out the differential and out through the suspension pieces.... purely my speculation at this point. I'm in agreement that the differential is the culprit as it happens to be the one component that is unique to the base Stingray, where the Z51, GS, and Z06 all have the eLSD.

Finally getting it fixed
Thanks to the good service team at Mossy Chevrolet I'm finally getting rid of the warble . My new differential should be in by the weekend and fixed next week .

I'm having a difficult time getting my car to warble consistently hence I am concerned that it won't warble when I take it in for a test drive with the Service Manager. I hear it at times usually when cruising. I tried this morning driving at 1500 rpms but it was very faint. I guess I'll try again at 3000 rpms in a lower gear. Should it happen even when driving in M mode. Should I turn off my Range and allow the car to go into V4 mode or does that not make a difference? Thanks for any advice. I am scheduled for a test ride in a couple weeks with my Service Manager.

That is great news CJMiller. Another one addressed by a good dealer with help from GM! RMorin1249, I'm with Highplains on replicating the sound. My car was very loud at 77 MPH going up a slight incline. It was in 8th gear and couldn't shift up - so it was easily to reproduce with the dealer. As long as you applied light throttle so it didn't kick down a gear, I could cause the noise to come in and out.

Mine is sort of an odd scenario. Mine would warble occasionally when letting my foot off the gas and decelerating to about 1400 rpm it would warble as it passed through that rpm range. Never on acceleration. But....as of now it hasn't warbled in about 2 weeks over 250 miles. Go figure.

Thanks, everyone. I could not get mine to warble yesterday but I'm going to try it a couple more times before I take it in for an oil change. I'll try the cruise control at 1500 rpms as this will be easy to do on I81. Anyone know if there is any progress on a TSB being issued for this noise?

Randall,
The WARBLE in my former '16 was always there in the 35 to 65 mph range @ 1500 rpm, light foot on the gas as especially with a slight incline in the road. Back roads, etc.
I had a hard time getting the noise at full highway speeds @ 1500...... or perhaps I couldn't hear it over the road noise / tire noise...

I'm in the same boat. Took my Corvette in and they did some acoustic test which came out positive. New differential ordered, should be in next week, hopefully they get the correct one and the warble is gone for good!

The day I took the service Tech out to replicate the sound it started raining so I was having a hard time getting the warble loud enough for him to hear it is heard it but I've been listening to it for months so I know what I'm listening for so I got on the interstate and had to get it in 8th gear about 79mph to get it loud enough and steady enough so he could hear it and on a long incline hill it did it steady for a couple miles extremely loud . He had no problem hearing it . When I talked to the service manager at the dealer he brought up going on YouTube and listening to a blue vette making the warble that got bought back by gm and that's what pushed them to replace mine . I think it was Strake's car that they were listening to on YouTube. So between the Quality control executive I contacted and dealing with a good dealership it's getting fixed , although with out the squeaking wheel of this fourm this issue would still not have a fix . So a big shout out to Stark , bjones and all the rest of the members that put the word and leg work out to help out with theses problems .
