Older people and their Corvettes

It sucks to be old. Stuff hurts and quits working. We would drink from the fountain of youth if we could.
It sucks less to be old and driving a Corvette!

When I was younger, I was taught by my depression era parents to only buy what I could pay for without going into debt (excluding a home). So silly me, I saved and invested for retirement, never paid any credit card interest in my life. If I couldn't afford something, I didn't buy it. I didn't need to buy the latest gadget when what I had was good enough.
I always liked Vette's, but couldn't afford one when I was younger. I was lucky enough to own a used 1970 GTO and was able to buy my first new car in 1983 (RX7 GSL).
So when I retired at 56, I decided it was time to finally get that Vette. I fell in love with the C7 and bought mine last November. Couldn't be happier.
I would have loved to own a Vette in my teens, 20's or 30's, but they were out of my reach price wise. This is most likely why the demographics for current Vette owners lean towards the older crowd.
I'm guessing that if I had ignored my parents teachings and bought a Vette back then instead of saving & investing, I'd be working until I die and/or sacrificing the life style I now enjoy.
Everyone has the right to choose their own path, but I'm glad as hell that my parents had the sense to teach me the things they did. Just my humble opinion & not meant to pass judgment on others.

If you're lucky, you get to grow old. If you're very very lucky, you never grow up.
Getting old does suck, but it still beats the hell out of the alternative.

[QUOTE=robert miller;1592013736] I had 2 guys in a 600 plus Mustang pull up beside me on the interstate wanted to race. The one on the pass side finally side I was just a old white headed fart.
I told him the least I will run for is 500.00 he said they didn't have it, I was just wasn't up to out running his car. I told him OK hit it when ever you feel like you are lucky. He did I just walked off from them almost like the mustang was just setting.
They let off of it within a 1/4 I was so far ahead of them. I let them catch up with me. Cause the wife was behind driving het car, When the guys got up beside side me all I got was a big from both of them.
After that I had to hear it from the wifey that I was just a over grown kid myself. But that was on the cell phone and just turned it off and all piece in the car again.
Love it Robert---

1.) How do you like being retired? It's great, like everyday is a Saturday!
2.) What do you do with all that time on your hands? Anything I want!
