Despite all of the obligatory verbage of the break-in recommendations from GM, it's actually good for your motor (once up to temp) for moderate throttle and high RPMs, especially if you let the engine brake from the higher RPMs to create negative pressure to help seat the compression rings. Babying the motor in the first 100-200 miles with lots of idling and minimal throttle risks glazing the cylinder walls which can lead to less HP and more oil consumption.
Not quite as easy with an automatic but I suspect you can force this with manual mode.
